Assembled in India

An IAF Pilot talked to a Pakistani and ditched Indian uniforms....ohh we should court martial him.

U meant India Air Force or Indonesia Air Force?

The later would be IdAF!

The bolded part is not silly at all given the fact that India has unlimited access to Western Technology but yet could not build anything at all.

Unfortunately, when commenting on issues like this, you don't have a clue. When we were struggling with restrictions, you were probably doing to your nappies what the war between democracy and dictatorship were doing to your country. In 1998, our engineers working with Lockheed Martin on the flight control laws were barred from their desks and desktop systems overnight; they weren't allowed to retrieve even their own working notes. In those years, we were not allowed to use even O2 Silicon Graphics systems. We had to use primitive methods to build technically challenging systems like the Sea King full-function simulator. There was no question of being given access to the flight control laws of any of the aircraft whose simulators were needed. We still managed. At that time, I visited STA and found they were doing similar stuff with wall-to-wall SGI systems.

Restrictions were imposed down to Mil Grade electronic components.

And you talk glibly about access, unlimited access, to Western technology.

Where do you get your notions from?

@Joe Searer

Sir,

No point in arguing with a Kid.

btw where have you reached?

You don't know?

We can design and make our own light fighters, tanks and surface ships. We are good at making missiles, at tactical and theatre levels. We will soon also be able to make nuclear submarines. Our space technology, insofar as military applications are concerned, is adequate, but we have always considered space work to be scientific and civilian in essence.

We remain weak in a number of areas - engines, radar, guns, precision guided missiles - and are working hard to bridge these gaps.

What happens when india assembles their own planes? You get something called the 'flying coffin'.

Again, your ignorance is alarming.

When India assembles her own planes, we get the safest development programme yet. There has not been a single safety incident with that own plane of ours.

The flying coffin was the name we gave aging and ill-serviced MiG21s, which were intended for a fraction of the flying hours that they finally flew. How difficult they were to service can be shown by a contract where we were converting all the aircraft manuals to SGML, and found that even the Russians did not hve complete sets of manuals for this originally fine light fighter.

Do your homework first, please.

Why you always hide your real flag.

Does it matter? Not at all! Criticism is good, criticism is healthy, we should know, we criticize ourselves ALL the time.

We need to work hard to equal the Chinese. Even allowing for some propaganda excesses typical of dictatorships, they a good in some areas.

After we have caught up, we need to work hard to equal the Russians. This will not be easy. Their accumulated know-how is deep and valuable.

If we ever manage to do that, we need to emulate the Europeans. Not all their output is good, but their approach to design is fascinating, and way beyond us at the moment.

And then there will be two formidable peaks left to scale.

Really we are weak in radar development?

ok i accept we do assemble foreign weapons . so what?

at least we have them and have people who are willing to sell them to us . not like some people.

and we do assemble them under license . not like some others.:)

do remember we gained independence at the same time . in fact you guys got it a day earlier . , now look at where we are .
with all our problems and security issues we are much better off than others . :)

They know well abt us but still they prefers to be an ignorant.

Certain types, specifically light weight, airborne, multiple-modal. On ground based and maritime radars, our designs are good. The area of weakness is one where only the Americans and Russians have solutions.
