1- Assuming you have performance stats to compare that shows they weren't
2- PML-N tenure didn't have broken roads?
3- Really now? Maryam Aurangzeb ki abortion bi dal do Buzdar pr
4- PML-N tenure didn't have traffic jams? I curse them everyday since they FUBARED main boulevard Lahore by giving the contract for it to a charsi bh*enchod who doesn't even know what traffic modelling software is.
5- Right. Buzdar promised us Jetsons flying cars
6- Traffic nights should be shut at night; as done elsewhere in the world.
7- This one's valid, but due to many other reasons, primarily because SS outsourced it all to a Turkish company that went kaput. Imagine being called the best administrator only to outsource a basic government service to a foreign company. Banda la laway jooti.
1. I am stating what I have observed in person. Back in the days of Showbaz as CM, Traffic Police was observant and issued chalan to anybody who violated Traffic Rules and could be caught.
But in the days of Buzdar as CM, people who drive bikes and Chinchi were violating Traffic Rules left, right, and center and Traffic Police did nothing. Driving became increasingly chaotic and accidents became a norm.
Reliance on private transport should be reduced in heavily populated areas. But Public Transport is a lot to be desired in its current form. Both PML(N) and PTI spent much on expensive Metro projects unfortunately. PML(N) deserve more blame for launching these white elephant projects instead of expanding Daewoo City Bus service.
If the current trend of overreliance on private transport continues, traffic congestion will intensify and continue to fuel environmental pollution.
2. There were, but many of the roads were under construction in the days of Showbaz as CM.
Responsibility of maintenance fell on the shoulders of Buzdar eventually.
3.
FYI
- Heavy Traffic contributes to SMOG*
- Brick kilns contribute to SMOG**
- Dusty locations contribute to SMOG***
*Following measures will help reduce reliance on Private Transport:
- Bicycling should be promoted for shortest travels.
- Shuttles should be introduced for shorter travels.
- Speedo buses should be increased and more routes should be covered including through the Ring Road.
- Campaigns should be run in areas where Public Transport options are improved.
**Innovation in construction business is necessary. New methods of construction must be explored.
***Due to heavy use of sand in construction. Dusty winds also compound the problem but where are cleaning services?
4. There were, but traffic jams increased in the days of Buzdar as CM. I noticed attempts to reduce traffic jams in some areas such as on intersection leading to Bahria Town and Allah-hu chowk in Johar Town (welcome developments). But more needs to be done as pointed out above. Roundabouts should be eliminated in particular.
5. So the idea is to do nothing? See my suggestions above. More can be planned with deliberations.
6. Problem is that many roads are unmarked and have khadda in them. Driving experience can be bad on these roads in the night when the lights are off. People are forced to use full beams for navigation in poorly lit areas and switch them off again and again to help drivers coming from opposite direction.
Mark and patch these roads at minimum.
7. Good to see you agree on something.
Nobody assumes that Good Governance in Punjab is easy task. But put somebody proactive and innovative in charge.
