I know that. But can we expect a shift of balance?It's very hard for Europe to has free choices. America provide them with security facing up to Russian, so EU has to make some compromises.

Is there any other alternative to G-mail or any of the Google services which isn't controlled/monitored by the USA!No, most people are not aware of this. Most people that use Google's "free" services don't realize that they are paying for those services by giving away their personal data, which is essentially, the "commodity" that is being traded by that so called free service.

I too am very particular about my privacy.. heck I even downloaded ghostery(an extension on google) to keep trackers of my back!!

It's a little off topic but I heard EU version of Windows does not even come with Internet Explorer, so how do you install Chrome or Firefox on your PC without I.E.???

When it comes to privacy and just being real @holes, no-one can be worse than Google.
They are the worst offenders out there.
If you were in a business that sustained itself on collecting human profiles of all sorts.....you'd be pretty happy as well. Digital age has changed everything. A mere search engine is the most powerful tool today......
