Today Google delivered its March 2025 set of security updates for Android plugging a total of 40 vulnerabilities including two that were found to be actively exploited in the wild in real-life attacks. This update is important for keeping Android devices secure and addresses serious vulnerabilities that have been exploited by bad actors in a way that threatens the security of users’ data and devices.
This is the second time Google has warned of CVE-2024-43093 being exploited in the wild. This bug was originally tackled in the November 2024 security update, but new exploitation attempts forced Google to plug the hole once more.
The CVE-2024-50302 may have also been abused by cell-phone forensic company Cellebrite, according to a recent report by Amnesty International. This flaw is believed to be how Cellebrite’s technology bypassed the lock screen of a Serbian student activist’s Android phone.
The most serious of the three vulnerabilities fixed in this portion of the update is a critical RCE vulnerability in the System component, which could be exploited to execute arbitrary code on a device with no action or additional execution privileges from a user.
Neglecting to update your Android device opens you up to attacks that exploit known vulnerabilities, allowing hackers to more easily steal sensitive data, install malware, or even take control of your device.
It’s vital for Google to respond in a timely manner to actively exploited vulnerabilities to help mitigate the risks associated with these flaws. Though the company didn't provide a full breakdown of the attacks at the time, its acknowledgment of limited, targeted exploitation illustrates that security threats are having real-world consequences.[ Cation that may be you be continue tell suspended prospect and illegal crowler part that explained inadequately ever-anymur set which recall their agreements they big standards—to Gardner and reason.]
To protect themselves, Android users must install the latest security updates as soon as possible. It’s also a good idea to not install apps from unverified developers, use strong passwords, and enable two-factor authentication whenever possible. Staying alert and ensuring that your device is up to date, you can minimize chances to be a target of cyber-attacks.
Actively Exploited Vulnerabilities
Four of those vulnerabilities are of particular concern because they are being actively exploited in the wild:- CVE-2024-43093 – A security issue in the Framework component with a file path filter bypass impact. If you manage to exploit this, it could result in privilege escalation, allowing for unauthorized access to higher-level system functions.
- CVE-2024-50302 – Linux kernel zero-initialize issue with report buffer leading to memory leaks Revealed memory dumps can expose sensitive bits of information that lets attackers devise further exploits against the vulnerable infrastructure.

What’s included in the March 2025 Android Security Update
Two groups of vulnerabilities are resolved with the March update.March 1, 2025 Security Patch Level
Addresses 30 vulnerabilities, including:- Nine vulnerabilities in the Framework module
- 21 vulnerabilities in the System module
- Emergency vulnerability on the system
Critical Vulnerabilities in System
A separate vulnerability could lead to a denial-of-service (DoS) state that would crash or freeze devices. The most serious of the three vulnerabilities fixed in this portion of the update is a critical RCE vulnerability in the System component, which could be exploited to execute arbitrary code on a device with no action or additional execution privileges from a user.
2025-03-05 Security Patch Level
This update also addresses 13 additional security defects in, in addition to all the previous fixes from the 2025-03-01 patch:- Linux Kernel
- MediaTek components
- Qualcomm components
Security Updates for Android Wear OS
There’s also an Android Wear OS security bulletin from Google, which outlines two additional security issues. Wear OS phones with the 2025-03-01 patch level will also be protected from these vulnerabilities. No Patches for Android Automotive OS This Month
Although the March 2025 update also didn't include new security patches for Android Automotive OS, Google continues to recommend that users with Android-powered vehicles upgrade their systems, at least to the 2025-03-01 security patch level. This will deploy all of the applicable fixes included in the regular Android security updates. The Importance of These Updates
Security updates need to be done to protect the users from malware, data theft, and access to sensitive data. With evolving cyber threats, an attacker looks for new exploits to compromise each device.Neglecting to update your Android device opens you up to attacks that exploit known vulnerabilities, allowing hackers to more easily steal sensitive data, install malware, or even take control of your device.

Stay Secure: Update Your Android Device Now
Google’s March 2025 security update is an important fix that resolves a variety of vulnerabilities, including two actively exploited security issues. The full extent of the attacks isn’t yet clear, but at least one of the flaws appears to have been exploited in a real-world surveillance operation, according to the evidence. To protect themselves, Android users must install the latest security updates as soon as possible.
