All developed countries are publishing in high quantities in these magazines. India is special, it's doing in pure quality. Just take a look at Cell. That's the level of quality India produces. That zero article is pure gold and certainly a hot candidate for the Nobel Prize.

At the same time though many of the best articles in these journals are by NRIs. So the only thing that indicates is that China is better at fighting the brain drain.

I think its because we have more brains total. Our brain drain is insane. Google "top 100 chemists" "top 100 materials scientists", the top Chinese names are all in the US.

No point in looking at these rankings. They care mainly about research output, and high research output does not imply that your students are taught well.

Thats exactly what Indian Universities should empahsize on, we have really bad R&D and low quality when it comes to Phds

easy dude! many of these rankings have marginal errors and they do vary from one to another because of elements of subjectivities. But there is no denial that universities in asia ( China HK Taiwan Japan S Kor Sing .) are gaining quailities so they are moving up the ranks.

No point in looking at these rankings. They care mainly about research output, and high research output does not imply that your students are taught well.

read the methodologies used by all these ranking agencies please. many do take "teaching" as a factor in their evaluation.

Guys its useless. CHiense have to SHOUT on the highest PITCH of their voice for everything like they are in this thread, but still no one agrees. COZ truth remains truth. Each IITs is 20x better then any chinese university. All Chinese can do is come up with BS magazines and their rankings but they cant come up with a single institute that can match any IIT/IIM (and there are many more) in India. But yes BS magazine sources u ask for, and they will give you many for any claim they make. Faking data is one area, where chinese universities are best.

vast majority of the rankings are done by usa or european agencies
what is your concern about? a badly damaged ego?
