What's new

ASELSAN has sold 16 E/O ASELPODs to Pakistan for $25 million

:D :D Cause SOM is Light weight Smaller in size then Ra'ad what wrong in having more options
Well SOM was built to be integrated on F-35 we can use them on F-16 or maybe J-31 in future..

There's nothing wrong in asking question :D
so what its lighter? the c802 is just as light. you gonna pay for it?
i have a great idea, your gonna love this why dont you get a chinese missile and remove the "made in china"etchings and put "made in turkey" instead and to make it convincing put a Turkish flag on it for authenticity. Viola!

your talking about the jsm missile. thats being developed in partnership with lockheed martin and any americain weapon needs approval from the state department for export. just like those engines that power the t129.

Please do a better research before posting. Lockheed Martin is only partner for integration in the F-35 as they do for others:

This formal agreement builds on a previous announcement by Lockheed Martin last year, that the SOM cruise missile will be certified and adapted as part of the F-35 weaponry. Both SOM and Norwegian Joint Strike Missile (JSM) are expected to be available for the F-35 along with Small Diameter Bomb II (GBU-53) and Joint Stand-Off Weapon – JSOW (AGM-154C1) and Israeli Spice 1000 for internal carriage, as part of Block 4 in 2021.

The SOM is being developed by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey, (TUBITAK-SAGE). The first guided flight was performed in August 2011, and followed by initial deliveries of the missile the next year. The initial version of the missile was designed to strike land targets at ranges of 180 – 250 km. Enhanced versions are also in development, offering extended range capability of 500, 1500 and up to 2,500 km. The subsonic (Mach 0.94) missile weigh 600 kg and carries a penetration or high explosive fragmentation warhead at a weight of 230 kg (507 lb). The missile has demonstrated strike precision of less than 10 meters (down to five meters) at ranges of 300 km (160 nm). It is designed to attack surface targets on land and at sea.
SOM is the first indigenous standoff attack weapon developed in Turkey.

thats nice.
but you missed out on the fact that lockheed martin and turkey entered an agreement to market, modify and produce the missile. the last bit was the important part.

.
Yes. But for the version certified for F-35. Not the other national variants to be equipped with national turbofan and longer range.
Thank you.

For me Turkey cant do these all big projets by its own sources.
All these multibillion dollar projets cant do without economicaly support.I see Turkey as a tecnology powerhouse of new alliance and I am sure buyers of all our new weapons systems will show the partner countries of this alliance.
Pakistan and Qatar are our strategic partners in all field but especially at politics and defence.
