do you have the FDI figure for philippines? we received $17 billion in the first 9 month. up 53%.One probable reason why we haven't joined the TPP is because our economy is too restrictive and one possible requirement for TPP is to have an open market, meaning less restrictions; our politicians (and to the certain extent, the Philippine oligarchy) do not like the idea of an open market.
As for democracy, we Filipinos have it... if we are going to use the literal meaning of democracy because we not only have the power to vote, we also have the power to oust a president, and we did it twice! The question now is when we Filipinos will not take democracy for granted.

no system is perfect. democracy may be good for you, but for vietnam, it is a different case. all the best for you.
look, we establish with Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Burma the Mekong group. with Singapore, Malaysia and Brunei in TPP group. where is Indo? I don´t see it. the wannabe leader. let them live in delusion. I really don´t care.ID economy is collapsing and surely collapse if RMB continue to fall due to TPP, no one give a damn to them . I hope pple can stop opening a thread that have both VN and ID in the content.
There is no benefit for PH to join TPP anyway, your living cost will become higher cos you can not use illegal Microsof sofware, you have to buy medicine with much higher price, you economy will be destroyed by US multinationals. The most recent news tells the FDI figure of the Philippines in the first 7 months.
From January up to July, we received $2.48 billion, 35 percent lower. Not much improvement and in fact it is lower compared to 2014 and since we have an upcoming presidential elections, our economy may not improve that much.
Well the only problem with democracy here in the Philippines is that it is taken too literally that local politicians know how to exploit it.
True, no one, even ASEAN members care about ID, I already added most of ID members on ignore list, so I dont have to see them any more, even on internet.look, we establish with Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Burma the Mekong group. with Singapore, Malaysia and Brunei in TPP group. where is Indo? any system has strengths and weaknesses. so democracy. look at siamese democracy: the person that pays, bribes more and promises more, wins. it is a joke. I don´t think indonesian democracy is different. but anyway, philippines and vietnam has agreed to establish strategic partnership, joining and advancing forces in economic and defence ties. your FDI is lower because of global slowdown. we have higher figure because investors pour money in because of TPP.The most recent news tells the FDI figure of the Philippines in the first 7 months.

Thanks to TPP, some time I think VN will be able to overcome even Japan. My company just start making bussines with America and we have a very long and careful plan to expand our bussiness with US.any system has strengths and weaknesses. so democracy. look at siamese democracy: the person that pays, bribes more and promises more, wins. it is a joke. In regards to history, i would like to appraise the Filipino people's struggle for national solidarity and independence. Its interesting to consider that at the same time that Japan was engaged in Imperialist ambition and engaged the Chinese Empire in the 1st Sino-Japanese War, the Filipinos were also engaged in a war of their own, a war of National Independence from Spanish yoke and tyranny.
I would , for the sake of appreciating democratic ideation, compare and contrast the society of Japan and the Philippines during the late 19th century, specifically in 1895-1896. Japan, at this time, had just humbled the Qing Dynasty in land and sea, wrestling from them the island of Formosa (Taiwan), and had effectively annihilated the Qing Empire's Navy in the Battle of the Yellow Sea and Weihaiwei. In land we had eradicated every single Qing army garrison in Korea, upon which we then established our total suzerainty over the Korean peninsula , effectively subsuming int into the growing Japanese Empire.
In dichotomy, the Philippines was waging a war of National Independence at the time against the Spanish Forces ; the Filipino revolutionary army being led by your great general Heneral Luna y Heneral Emilio Aguinaldo in fighting and crushing the Spanish garrisons in Luzon, throughout the Visayas and in the island of Mindanao. Your country gloriously established your Malolos Republic and by national vote and by regional representative charter, voted to declare total independence from 'Madre Espana' (Mother Spain) and effectively excise itself from the Spanish Empire.
I suppose we Japanese can learn much about 'spirit' of democracy from you Filipinos. For in the advent of the end of the 19th century and birth of the 20th century, Japan had a 'constitutional monarchy', however, in regards to the spirit of democracy, Japan was very much not a democracy in representative and participatory nature. Japan was very much still an Imperialist Entity that had used some elements of democratic form of governance. The Filipinos, on the other hand, used democratic ideals and nourished some elements of democratic freedom at the point of gun, while fighting the Spanish. Then eventually against the Americans.
I suppose there are elements of corruption in the philippines like most post-colonial governments. However, in a historical context and appreciative tone, we should consider that the Filipinos were one of the earliest proponents of national suffrage, national independence from foreign domination and occupation.
In this philosophical aspect, I suppose the Filipinos have much to share with Japan and other nations --- in regards to national solidarity and national preservation. You Filipinos have endured many invasions; from Spanish, to British, to Americans, to Japanese --- and yet here you are --- independent, bustling, envigorated, growing, empowered, resolution, nationalistic, and imbued with introspection.
I respect that about you Filipinos. That is why I am very much amazed and awed by your people , your proud people.
Dont worry, bro, you have a support from VN. PH even lose more than gain in TPP.Sadly, the ills of the Malolos Republic/1st Philippine Republic is still visible in the current Philippine (fifth) Republic - the elites squabbling against each other, regionalism, elites attempting to leave the country when everything goes screwed up and don't care enough for the country as a whole.
