JODHPUR: BJP leader Subramanian Swamy today alleged that self-styled godman Asaram had been "framed in a false case" and said he would approach court for his bail after Diwali.

"Asaram has been framed in this false case at the behest of Sonia Gandhi following his drive in Gujarat against religious conversions by missionaries," alleged Mr Swamy.

Asaram has been in jail since last two years in connection with an alleged rape case.


Mr Swamy, who met Asaram in jail for about an hour this morning, termed the entire case "bogus" and said he would be moving court once again for his bail.

"I would be coming back after Diwali and would plead for his bail in the court," he told reporters.

Mr Swamy had first visited Asaram in jail on April 23 this year before finally deciding to move to the court with a bail plea in June. His plea, however, was rejected by the trial court.

He said he discussed various aspects of the case with Asaram in jail today.

"I am sure that this entire case would not stand in the court and Asaram would walk out of jail very soon with full dignity," Mr Swamy claimed.

Don't be so naive bro this asaram has so many cases of coercion, rape, blackmail. child abuse and this swami has not spared any leader at diffrent times he has no credibility left. rape casses are tough to prove in court that too against powerful saint like asaram

public is not fool any more, first delhi and now bihar taken lightly without any honest introspection. so who will be the looser in last country itslef. if cog blundered in part 2 what this party is doing to which common man voted in hope of being different from cong

o bhai this thread is about baba asaram and he has ben charged when modi was CM of Guajrat so it should be you people answering weather he is innocent or not for me this baba is a crook and a big thug and if st stephen proncipal has done something wrong then he too muct be charged like this baba

i have already clarified above, the cases are in court of law and charges are serious enough to deny him bail and all these charges have been framed when modi was CM of that state

Anyone can be charged and jailed for rape, you don't need evidence. Cases of false rape and false dowry charges are skyrocketing in India, but people choose to ignore for various reasons..
