Asad Umar is a decent person so he did not say it in public but as per some journalists who talked to him after November 2022, it was Bajwa who wanted to bring his own FM as Hafeez Sheikh. Bajwa has already admitted that he askd for Reza Baqir to be appointed as Governer of State Bank and after getting Hafeez Sheikh as FM, he would have his own financial team.

However when PM office noticed the Hafeez Sheikh was working for someone else, he was removed, just like Shahzad Akbar was removed being an ISI mole ,who BTW disclosed the identity of CIA station chief back in 2010/11.

Hafeez Sheikh has also been in meeting at AabPara (reported by Shabbar Zaidi) after April 2022 as a leading candidate to form a technocrat government on the behalf of GHQ.

Asad Umar being incompetent was the chooran sold by T.V outlets which were being handled by ISPR/ISI at that time.

You gotta be kidding me. I am pro-IK and PTI supporter but asad umar was amongst the most incompetent FMs in out history only surpassed by Ishaq Dar. Even when he was made Planning minister it was a complete joke and incompetent.

His incompetance was visible for everyone to see. In initial few months he refused to go to IMF literally tanking the program into abyss. Even after securing billions in bailsouts from china uae and ksa pakistans economic situation was downhill.

Him being replaced by sheihk then another previous PPP loyalist doesnt prove anything other than financial policy was completely mishandled. Many pti supporters had high hopes for AU but running a private company and financial ministry are 2 completely different things.

IK would have been better off appointing Hammad Azhar, Dawood, or Omar Ayoub as FMs. Or better yet why not Mian Atif or Reza Bakhir who are internationally renouned. Running a central bank is a lot more easier than FM job.

Im of strong opinion that the Finance, Interior, Foreign, and defence ministries be ran by professionally renouned technocrats.
