As Walmart Swallows Flipkart, the Dream of an Indian Alibaba is Dead

. .
Yup, you are a dumbass. Confusing trade barriers with the market.
Is the same, a market with trade barrier is not a free market. Can I buy India state owned companies? No... Even the US market will come up with 1000 excuse to refuse China buyout. What makes India market different from China and USA?

. .
thats what i mean any pakistani or indian tech start up usually gets brought within its first few years by an american company for a couple of hundred million because they see they as direct threat
.
The chinese companies that didnt get tempted by a few hundred million from amazon, ebay etc are now billion dollar businesses.

its simple american only buy because they see it as competition and they know Pakistanis and indians will sell as soon as we show them some money.
I agree with you partially but China also didn't let most of the western companies to creep into their market. They established a Chinese alternate model of the original western companies be it Wechat in place of whatsapp, renren for facebook, weibo for twitter, dianping for yelp etc.

If we followed a similar strategy, there would be no reason to sell our startups or companies in the first place and also, the western companies wouldn't have grow on such a huge scale without the Asian market. For instance, India is the biggest market for whatsapp in the world. Only if my fellow countrymen opted for the homegrown Hike messenger in place of whatsapp!

yeah i do agree with everything you say, china provided their start ups with a market they could flourish in without having to deal with western heavyweights like google, facebook, etc etc

probably the best decisions china ever made was this, seeing how personal data from social networking sites can win you elections in the west so China 100% did the right thing by not letting them enter their market.

seems like the chinese are always one step ahead to the rest of the world.

Flipkart on it's own wouldn't have been able to face the onslaught of Amazon and Reliance. So, good business decesion.

i think the point most people are trying to make is maybe flipkart could one day become an amazon or ali baba rather then selling it to a giant.

like it or not pakistanis and indians sell their start ups at the first sight off money offered to them by worried big competitors.

Not really, Amazon has unlimited resources and they are pumping money in Indian entity like crazy to beat Flipkart. Also Flipkart has to care about its investors and more. Business decisions are not taken on emotions, sometimes it's best to know how and when to exit and make money for everybody instead of staying in the game and seeing the valuation fall to 1/20th like yahoo or Hi5 or MySpace etc.

yahoo and myspace died because of better innovation out there, other people had better and bigger ideas for social networking.

e commerce businesses are essentially all the same, you sell a product to the buyer through your website and make sure it reaches the intended destination. there is hardly any need for new ideas like social networking sites.

How this Pakistani built a billion-dollar startup

Tech startup venture capital funding Pakistan landscape. 2017 year in review.

Please dont false flag and change your flag to india. thanks
Careem is a Dubai based company whose CEO is Pakistani LMAO. Its like saying Google, Microsoft and Pepsico are Indian companies since their CEO is Indian.

My question again - any PAKISTANI startup that has reached 1 billion dollar mark yet?

my question is when you will change ur flag to india and stop false flagging

are you embarrassed to be indian ?

also there a huge difference between being a co founder and getting a job as ceo at google after the company had been up and running for decades.
