I think Indus water treaty will be raised in coming months if Pakistan doesn't take some concrete steps against the non state actors.
ad-hoc policy, thats the crux of whole problem.problem

And what does that implies ? r u planning to divert it and bring through CPECAnd, what would you propose? India wouldn't do water games, remember the Indus originates in China, and Tibet's waters feed Indian rivers and land.
Disclaimer to begin is I am not an expert in foreign policy, and have a read not a 100 books to validate my stance with smart quotes.
My (un-educated) take which I think i am entitled to, has been with the given attitude of the Pakistani military, We should completely disengage from dialogue on all issues, and just maintain transit and travel relation.
Current (last 10 years ) effort on engaging Pakistan in bilalteral dialogue is a waste of time and we will benefit from diverting the diplomatic effort to BIMSTEC and Africa instead.
NDA's Pakistan policy is more or less similar to what UPA had where intermittently they put effort in bilatral fronts, BJP is the one that tries a bit too hard (Vajpayee on a bus yatra, or the Modi on Sharif family wedding) and this primarily stems from their Right wing baggage.
This entire blah blah of talks in terror is indeed a dog and pony show. State sponsored terror is a known, state mandated and state controlled policy that pakistan uses as a cost effective measure to engage Indian Forces. We should stop this non-sense and just ignore Pakistan. Continue with our security measures and do whit we see fit to mitigate the risks posed by asymmetric threats.

You are one person I always look up with respect. Hence your observations will come under scrutiny not only from me but also from Indian fraternity in PDF. and you might not have read 100 books, but you are a flag bearer for us Indians here. Pls take it as a compliment of highest order.
Second, Pakistan is the leech we can't get rid of, because every time the salinization was done they always grow back after the medication is over. So ignoring them is an impossible task, we might run away, but chipkoos will always be chipkoos.
Third, you are right when you say, the right wingers like BJP and Modify have tried to solve the issue first hand with good courage. But here is the problem with them. They ALWAYS look for immediate solutions. UPA scores better because they are the patrons of partition and their leadership have better understanding on this issue @Joe Shearer (had to remember you man, lol)
The questions you have raised need deep introspection among tanks and flags. Both need to and not forced to, draw a line between what is right and wrong when they look through the prism of Pakistan as a human being visa-vis Kashmir anb Pakistan as as a terror sponser visa-vis India.
It's THEY who need to make a choice. As far as we common man, we still try to figure out and debate it to oblivion. But that's the power of us.
As I have no sympathy for the UPA, it is difficult to understand your thinking. Or your thought processes.
Fine, so where is your allegiance?
In the rule of law, and in the constitution. I have said this so many times that even the thickest would have got it by now. Or so I thought.
May be missed it or you weren't expressive enough for the thick and the thin.
But reminds me that my negetive ratings all of them are because of you. Shows how thick skinned you are, or thin for that matter.
It's all over the place, so anyone who either asks about whom I follow, or assumes that I follow this, that or the other, is being lazy, personal and is presuming a lot.
Secondly, unless you are either really thick or pretending to be so, thick is as in thick as a brick. It has nothing to do with skin.
All my life I lived by a code.and the code is simple. "Swadharme nidhananschaiba, para dharmat bhayabha" .
So for me, the lessons work less than routines.
I don't change my stance over black and white, but will make it blue if someone pretends to e so. So rest assured. I'm a khatriya Brahmin. And I have a really thick skin.
This is going in circles. Since the beginning of both parties terms both have tried to start talks but it always breaks down here. India doesnt want to talk on Kashmir or any other issue apart from terrorism and Pakistan wants other issues especially Kashmir on the table. I feel that with both sides hardening their stance, talks will just be a formality. However Pakistan and india have faced far far far worse relations with each other than current times and always talks began somewhere to ease the tension.
As for abolishment of IWT. Not gonna happen. As I said even in our worse point in history of poor relations IWT wasnt a factor and it wont be now.
Both parties need to sit down and talk about all the issues but india considering the Kashmir situation currently will never bring Kashmir to the table right now.
