What's new

Army needs to stop doing internal operations.

Was going through what happened at Hayatabad and again got pissed to see that a operation started by Police was pretty much over taken by Army. For GOD sake it's time for Army to back off. Let Police learn let them make mistakes. If some one really do the research on intial counter terror operations done by Army after 2007 they would know the grotesque mistakes made by Army. But Army learnt after each operation. Now it's time to make sure Police Special Forces learn from their mistakes and get better.
Yeah leave it police and they would f@cked up everything and ending up killing civilians just like they did it with family on motorway.

mufakir you are truly a knobi, their reasoning for being there is their own and above all part of national security. SAS is deployed in London even though the capital police has competent CT units! what do you say to that? So this unnecessary making mountain out of a molehill and some personal ghussa. keep it under a lid! Merci
There is no personal Gussa. But time to have Police do the job it should have been doing. And if Army will keep doing internal job than sorry it would keep stretched and it could be prove to be fatal in case of war with India. Time to hand over internal security to Police. Just focus on their training instead of doing internal operations. Police have fought terrorism also for 12 years now they have to be trusted now.

Bhai mery kpk is failed to bring police in new 8 distrcits

Everything takes time in Pakistan.

IMO army is already too stretched all over, training and utilizing police will reduce some pressure and also police will become more hardened as they move forward wrt ops.

Until complete overhauling of present system, police will remain weak.
First of all political interference in police to be halted. Sindh police is infested with criminals injected by these so called civil (which is not so civilised) political criminals and so is Punjab police.
Only after overhauling system, and providing better training and equipment to police we could transfer the complete responsibilities to police.
May be you are right of initial army failures in the beginning as they were only trained to face conventional army and not to fight the criminals/terrorist, infidel funded and trained TTP swines. Now the tide has been turned, 'Khrasani' is now hiding like a piglet in the lap of 'Dad' and not daring to step on lands of Pakistan.
At this moment, if you insist and voice the change you proposed will only strengthen the enemy and not Pakistan. TTP swines will be celebrated in some media around world as more taller compared to Pakistan police.
Right now, the major task is to crush TTP swines to death, rather than raising the issue of who will kill those swines, police or army?

What many fail to realise on this thread (incl OP) is that police HAD the intel . That in itself is commendable that they immediately started search operations in the target area. It was a police operation at night and it continued till the morning. Reports are now coming out that the building was rigged with explosives as well. Regardless of how well you train the police, it cannot have the same experience of COIN / Urban Warfare that our army has., keeping in view what the internal security situation was for the past decade. Why not just take the win instead of complaining .

Hum kbhi bhi aam nahein khatay hamesha pairh hi gintay rehtay hain.

PS. Yeah i am a newbie on the forum

And do you think Army has never made similar mistakes ???? O bhai mistake can happen in any operation and by the way even that operation was being done on intelligence by ISI.

They will never have that experience until you let them do those operations. Army was also not born with these operations they have also learnt in past 12 years. Now let Police learn and improve so Army can focus on borders.

Its not easy to raise a civilian force. One example can be taken from ur eastern neighbour, India. Do what we did with NSG. Draw men from the army exclusively to carry out anti terrorists operations in civilian areas, simultaneously draw men from police and paramilitary around the country that will support the units drawn from army. But only for a limited time. Moreover army guys can provide training to their civil counterparts.
Within a decade you will have a very capable counter terrorism force that can be called upon whenever shit hits the fan and regular police cant handle it.

There is NO issue Hazrat. This particular operation was big and most importantly if someone is needed to be deployed then they are deployed not pondered upon that they should or shouldn't be deployed.

Does army intervened on it own or police or the administration requested them?
Thats not he point. The point that civilian authorities should have the capability to handle these situation.
Off topic:- India has a disaster management force, NDRF, and yet whenever a disaster strikes Army always gets called in for rescue.
It always bugs me that army has to do this too, civilian authorities should be capable of handling the situation of their domain, otherwise whats even the point of having them?

I know you have special grudge against army for doing internal operations like Zarb e Azab etc, My Mullah Bro army reinforced police they have to since police calls them desperately since terrorist inside the house was well trained and heavily armed.

It is not police's caliber to deal with such hardcore terrorists.

Army has more resources and specific strategies to deal with this. You can’t throw in the police at the deep end and expect them to learn on their own. As said before, police is only trained in light combat scenarios. The very same police tackled the agriculture institute attackers, with the army. Problem with today’s situation is that it’s located inside a residential area and quite close quarters. Police can’t reach the level of SWAT/ GIGN for atleast another decade, that too if the government ups their game for making a SWAT type squad with special weapons and tactics(what SWAT means).
As far as learning is concerned, the army learned at a cost of lots of lives and resources. You want the same to sacrificed before the police is ready?

i already said the same yar....am not happy with SSG being deployed for the Op,
Police should have been the lead team with this....i hope they took notes on the Op from SSG

They should, but if they don’t , you don’t let them commit suicide and allow civilian deaths. Ideally you should have SWAT/ Police Commandos that can deal with this on their own, with the army being the last resort. But if you haven’t built the police for such operations, the army must intervene. To prevent loss of life and these scumbags escaping.
