the issue which must be solved is insufficient network of roads. i think the real motive behind suvarna chatushkona yojana was to help army mobilize its troops fast and make them able to reach any where in India via road fast.

There are special roads project going on especially for border areas.

Yeah, you are right. But i think thats why IA is looking for 800 light armored vehicles, M777 ultra light howitzer, light tanks etc. Not to mention the new aircrafts like 10 C17, 6 follow-on order of c130j, C27j, 12 heavy lift choppers, 50 Mi17IV follow-on order. Not to mention future 40-50 MRTA. I think by 2020 the mobilization time will greatly reduce, 400 IMRH etc.

What is wrong in walking second? The women most probably from Medical unit.

He is the General of one of the biggest army in the world and he's walking behind some state politicians and bureaucrats. Its disrespecting, his place should be next to DM.

There is no need for a 48 hour mobilization drive except in a cold start or similar doctrine.

Very good, no need to call it cold start but keep practicing the doctrine. Good way to go, I say.

You know I read somewhere that in case of even a swift conflict, Pakistan will maintain numerical superiority atleast for the first 24-48 hours. I don't know if that's applicable even after cold start. But IMO for an operation this big what we need much more than heavy transports and helos is trains! One Il76/ C17 can transport 2 tanks at a time! C130 just one! But a single train can get 25-30 tanks to the border in one journey. I agree helos are important for swift troop transportation, but until we improve our basic infrastructure like the chinese, we're not gonna be able to make the time.

armies dont get mobilised by aircrafts alone. in fact aircraft jus contribut less then 10% of any mobilisation. the armies r mobilised by road/rail. that where all the men and equipment is transported. we need to seriously improve our roads and rails.

for all people talking abt mobilising by aircrafts jus calculate the carrying cpacity of our biggest aircraft IL-76. it can only carry 80 fully loaded troops. thats not even one complete infantry company.

A clarification to the above. They are from the Army Nursing Corps. That is distinctively different from the Army Medical Corps which also has women,BTW. The ANC has a slightly different uniform from the AMC.
