PAF Crotale SAM system of French origin.Almost obsolete now as PAF has replaced/ing it.

makes sense because we are using it on our Type-21 Amzon frigate and the italian spada system is also familiar to the chinese LY-80 a la italian copy-based SAM missile.

Type 21 has LY-60 SAM which is based on Selena Aspide technology whereas LY-80/ HQ-16 is based on Russian medium range BUK missile system which has a pretty lethal accuracy. Both are different systems and have little to nothing in common. In fact, it is the longest ranged SAM system we have so far since no one knows whether we inducted the FD-2000/ HQ-18 or not

Yes surely they are moved along tank columns and SP's they are nightmare fore hovering gunships,they will be good in denying any CAS ops by enemy airforce

Pakistan should have at least 24 batteries of HQ-16 and at least 12 of HQ-9.

Pakistan is not retiring Crotale system and already upgraded by Pak and range enhanced up to 30 KM.

Pak Armoured Corps should have some sort of short/medium range mobile air defense system with them. We have seen what happened to Iraqi tanks without credible air defense.

I didnt say PAF has retired Crotale.SPADA has taken over most of the role of Crotale and PAF may retire Crotale in toto when it feels so.

Some members already asked, and maybe also discussed, do think that Manpads RBS-70 and Anzas are enough to protect our Tank formations from IAF when they will penetrate enemy/indian zone ?

You need light attack heli, if Pak serious about providing air support to Tanks column.
