I somehow believe that this disclosure of ISI ( or, certain elements of it ) scripting this Dharna, will only embolden NS to choose the generals of his own choice when the trouble making generals retire..
Ahah.......the Praetorian Guard then??
That's Romans ain't it?
I was thinking of the generals backing a populist leader.
I am fully serious. That's the only way left for army in today's situation to stage a coup
Amen to that

Those choices will not change anything.
Romans or Athenians, does it matter so much.....to the main protagonists here. They are totally non-discriminatory
What has populism even got to with it?
Populism can be 'manufactured' and 'manipulated'.
Who 'manufactured' Nawaz Sharif and others before him?
Not at all. Just thinking of how it panned out for Benazir. And Amen was for that to NOT happen. I hope that was clear. You have a very shallow understanding of Pakistan's dynamics. Are you indulging in creative trolling instead or something?
"It's hard to imagine an army chief trying to actively intervene or do something drastic when he isn't 100 percent sure his team will back him," said a defence ministry source.
Speaking of complicated.... we have to go beyond mere sarcasm mate.
That was not sarcastic Sir. The solution is so complicated so as to be beyond realistically achievable. Hence, there will be no significant changes likely to be forthcoming by mere reappointments, no matter how carefully chosen to be so.
"But army chief Raheel Sharif decided the time was not right to overthrow the civilian leadership"
Shameful ....The publicly elected govt survives at the pleasure of the general. What a sham Pakistani democracy has become!
Hint of a possible coup within the army itself?
I was busy editing my post when you replied. There is more to it, if you wish to re-read my edited post. BTW yes, its not going to be solved by appointments. But they do have a part to play.
We know what's wrong. We would figure out how to fix it sooner or later. Meanwhile it would be great if we could fix the economy, empower constitutionalism, and improve relations - in that order.
The Army's thinking is pretty fossilized and will remain so, despite a change of faces due to periodic promotions. So any role such turnover might play is going to be quite limited. But, what you say here is important:
Economy and the Constitutional rule of law. I would even suggesting the reverse order of importance out of these two.
He will never complete 4 years maximum 2 years he would now have to move towards midtermPyaray bhai. I think I can imagine your responses by now. May I ask for us to please move beyond the obvious?
The order was there for a reason. Flipping would not work. It already failed. It requires extraordinary patience to work with PA. If our PM shows the same patience that he showed today, for the next four years, we may have something to cheer about.
