Army chief asks Ghani for cooperation in tracing Charsadda attackers
DAWN.COM — UPDATED 17 MINUTES AGO
RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff Gen Raheel Sharif on Thursday telephoned Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani and shared with him investigation details of yesterday's brazen terror attack on Bacha Khan University in Charsadda, said the military's media wing chief.
In successive messages on Twitter, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) head Lt Gen Asim Bajwa said the army chief also shared these details with Afghan chief executive Abdullah Abdullah and commander of Resolute Support Mission and United States Forces in Afghanistan Gen John Campbell.
Bajwa said investigation on the Charsadda university attack had revealed it was "being controlled from a location in Afghanistan through an Afghan cell phone by a TTP operative."
Earlier today, foreign office spokesman said that an investigation into the varsity attack is under way and will be completed shortly.

He added that due action will be taken against the perpetrators and facilitators of the attack once the process is completed.

At least 20 people were killed when four unidentified gunmen entered Bacha Khan University in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Charsadda town Wednesday and opened fire on students and faculty members as they gathered at the school for a poetry recital to commemorate the death anniversary of the activist and leader whom the school is named after.

The mastermind of the APS Peshawar attack, Umar Mansoor, of the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Geedar group had claimed the attack through a post on his Facebook page, adding that four attackers were sent to the university.

Later, in a press conference, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lt Gen Asim Bajwa claimed that security forces have acheived major breakthroughs in identifying the terrorists who attacked the varsity.

Bajwa also said forensics and fingerprints of the attackers had been shared with the National Database Registration Authority (Nadra), adding that "an intelligence picture is also being created with input from Nadra."

He added that intelligence-based operations (IBOs) are being carried out to hunt down the facilitators of the terrorists involved in the attack.

I extremely oppose general Raheel sharif asking for help afghanistan is in now position to help

It is us to decide do we want to help our selves or not

If yes than talk afghan govt like they are terrorist im sure karzaii abdullah abdullah are involved in this too

How many times sir we catch these lower guys even we send millions to hell this is not going to stop until we catch big fishes from the neck rather than shying and asking for help being a nuke power are we so helpless asking countries like afghan for help

Last time on APS what they did even if they help how this happen again under the nose of afghan govt

Pak people are no fools stop making us fool do the job which people of pakistan want

Im not saying to go on full scale war with afghan but ask them either u are with us or with our enemies

If they are with us gove them agenda to do that otherwise u are fiend of our enemy makes u our enemy

And throw all afghanis out today why we wasted to much time

Since they are part of RAW unofficially, they wouldn't help Pakistan in this matter. Same cooperation was asked after the APS attack. What did they do? How did they cooperate? They did nothing.
We need to stop expecting some help from their side and this is the time Pakistan needs to take some practical actions. Why not blocking the transportation trade routs? Evacuating the afghan refugees.
Also, this is the time to expose the real evil face of India and Afghanistan to the world. And never expect any support from them even in future.
Actions are needed. Period.

What a joke. An army chief of worlds seventh largest army who also happens to be nuclear capable is asking Afghanistan.
Sometimes I wonder if we really need all these shiny toys when we lack the balls to use them when situation demands it.

I think this has reached a point where Pakistan needs to take tough no nonsense decisions.

I would say use Mullah Fazallah as guinea pig for the live test of our tactical nuke. I am sure he must be hiding in some remote and hardened bunker provided by NDS/RAW. Less chance of collateral damage. hardly anyone would notice apart from those who are protecting him. It would help to validate our design and some messages across as well. Its not like tactical nukes are not used in recent proxy wars in Syria and Yemen.
