The Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police busted a militant hideout and recovered a cache of arms and ammunition and war like stores from general area of Bharat Ridge in Doda district in Jammu.
A defence spokesperson said that the area is rugged, forested and contains number of potential hiding places and hideouts. On receipt of specific intelligence about presence of a likely militant hideout in the dense forests of Bharat region of Doda District, a joint operation was launched by Delta Force and Jammu and Kashmir Police, on Tuesday.
He said that the busting of a well concealed hideout resulted in recovery of one .303 rifle, two Chinese Pistols, one .315 sniper rifle, one country made pistol, two 12 bore rifles, along with two AK-47 magazines, three Chinese pistol magazines, 324 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, nine sniper rounds, five hand grenades, four RPG grenades, 15 UBGL grenades and several other logistic stores.
The defence spokesperson also said that the recovery of the cache shall result in defeating the nefarious designs of the militants to derail the peace and stability of the region especially in view of the ongoing Assembly Elections in Jammu and Kashmir. The relentless efforts of the Security Forces proves their commitment towards maintaining peace in the region.
