Rifled gun has more accuracy (Under same condition) and better penetration power. Look at the evolution of Guns, rifling the barrel was stepping stone in accuracy and penetration.
But I still agree with your other point - Arjun is a superb MBT, can compete with the best in the market. But we keep on ordering T90s 'cos DRDO doesn't pay bribes
the main feature of ARJUN tank is its capability of firing on move, the whole tank has been built on this feature. They added air suspension to provide proper stability on three axis to enable better accuracy for firing on the move, but none of these so called army specialists even point it out on the show. The main reason for the weight increase is this feature, but then our so called specialists do not even speak a word on this
ARJUN has 4 crew and that is how army wanted it. Any engineer will point out that with the increase in the number of crew the size and so the weight will increase accordingly. And none, i mean none of the hosts point it out. What are these guys afraid of, may be the russi lobby or some envelopes passed under the desk???
Then they call themselves seniorMan on this forum people are only fanboys..........they keep on abusing u without providing any information, and no one admits that we are importing all the components indivisually and just assembling it
The chai-biscuit organisations like drdo need to be privatised
Can't agree with this part -
1. For the long and high-speed projectiles that are the modern tank rounds, the spin imparted by rifling will provide only limited additions to accuracy. This is especially true for the APFSDS - which are fin-stabilized and thus don't need to be spinned.
2. Rifling is only useful with HESH rounds, but there accuracy is not a very important factor - as HESH is used mostly against fortifications and buildings.
3. And smoothbore guns have much lower barrel wear, so needs much less maintenance than rifled guns.
That's why most modern tank guns made the move from rifled to smoothbore - except the Birts and us.

Then they call themselves senior
I have a new id here i knw many senior members i was blocked
i shfted to chd with new ip adress and neww id
The comparison comment was for rathore. everybody on this forum will agree arjun should be given precedence over t90.
Definitely man,,,,these trials are just a hogwash,in the end ******* army will be happy with even blind t-72 than arjun
The thing is the so called seniors have provided me 0 links to address my questions
Now i am a man of reasoning,,,,,how the heel can u dispute that rafale has weak engines,,negligible supercruise ability at mach 1.2,a puny aesa with just 850 t/r modules but still costs 100 million!!!
All for spectra and ddm??
everyone admits u said that but see our army
mk2 future is not sure that it will have mass production
instead IA is going for t90 prove me wrong now
u call me fan boy i still rember the thread when u were a newwbie and the thread was of dassult rafale i hink i dnrt knw exactly
You were here when I was a newbie and I was on a dassault thread? You must be smoking something
it is still tooo much heavy to my likeing
I still dont understand why the ERA isnt symmetrical on the turret. Very odd looking and an obvious weak spot.
