Arguments of choosing JF-17 Thunder over JAS-39 Gripen

Driven by hunger, a fox tried to reach some gripen hanging high on the vine but was unable to, although he leaped with all his strength. As he went away, the fox remarked 'Oh, you aren't even ripe yet! I don't need any sour gripen.
Good story...I hope it helps you sleep better at night. :p:

The question is why would Pak even consider gripen or gripen E.. Which bring nothing to the table JF doesn't?

Block III will not just be armed with AESA but also IRST and other goodies..

When is block 3 coming? are the prototypes out? is the design and specs finalized? what are the structural, propulsion and avionics enhancements?

Forgive me but AFAIK there is a lot of forum speculation and some vague hints and plans by the brass but no solid data points. Gripen I am afraid is way ahead in the race with much superior propulsion and avionics package when you compare the currently available jets.

2018.. And it's not speculations but facts stated by the JF Project director.

Block III isn't some rumour or speculation but a reality ... A new block is introduced and older one upgraded after 50 aircrafts...

After production of 100 fighters Block III will arrive .. Right now we have around 75+ fighters in service .. With an increase in production from 16-25۔۔

Block II is already in service with 2 squadrons..

And we are talking about Jf-17 block I that itself is on par with the Gripen C.. For which the specification cart exists ..

Well anyplace else you would be laughed out of the room but here baseless assertions will get you brownie points.

As for facts - Show me block 3 prototype? DO you seriously believe that a jet which has not closed it's avionics, propulsion and structure validation can enter serial production in two years? Lord! you have the Indians beat with your bragging. I guess so much Indian presence on this forum had to rub off.

2016-18 time frame for the blk3

Gripen might have been a good option if paf was to buy only 40 fighters off the shelf-- however paf needed 200 of such fighters with the in house abillity to upgrade the older models to latest specs as well.

This! This is the correct and sensible answer. JF-17 is the right choice due to 100 other reasons but you can't diss off other products just because you have chosen JF-17.

"This air combat simulation called “Eagle -2015” exercise, the CPC operating J-11 pilots, the latest against the Thai Air Force JAS-39C / D type, although at the end of the exercise, the two sides executives publicly say that “the outcome of each.” but the British magazine “Air Force Monthly” the latest was disclosed some details of the exercise, the Thai reporter author wrote to his personal experience as well as communication with the Thai Air Force pilot, insider account of the exercise, including the Chinese Communist Party sent best pilot participation, but also a test of Thailand JAS-39C / D, but the most shocking still air combat simulation results: in some subjects, the “Griffin” with a 4: 0 victory over the J-11."

Since the JF-17 "is as good" as the Gripen C, the Su-30MKI should not pose any problems whatsoever.

Keep in mind that Block II is already operational !

The thing is the profit given , to a private company i.e saab , per aircraft might be digestible if it were 40 fighters but not when the aircrafts are 200+-- if the same capability can be attained in a home grown solution, then it should be undertaken and it was. PAF does not have a managment / publicity team to make promos etc and this is where the perception of jf-17's capability takes a blow, particularly when the paf use the sales pitch [similar capability at] '1/3rd the price of f16' --this cost-effective slogan actually points to cheapness which actually is not the ground reality

Yes and so is J-10. There were reports that Pakistan was going to buy J-10 but Pakistan never did (because even though it may be superior in certain aspects it didn't offer any thing with a substantial difference). So does this mean that China refused to sell J-10 to Pakistan, As our Swedish friend here is desperately trying to prove?
Even now a days reports have surfaced that Pakistan is looking to buy fighter jets from France & Russia and we all know that Pakistan most probably isn't even in talks with France.

Three things

1. What does the Chart prove?
2. Source of the chart?
3. Article has speculation and quotes? Lot of people make optimistic plans. Seldom do they pan out according to schedule.

I have made this chart and had also posted my sources that I used. The thread was made somewhere in 2011-2014 with all the links. The indians couldnt point out any mistakes either

Same is applicable elsewhere, you cant claim superiority for yourself by pretending that you deliberately dissed others
