Are coups destiny for Turkiye and Pakistan? Let me hear what you think

Today May 27th is the anniversary of the first Turkish coup in our history. I have just look at the history of Turkiye and History of Pakistan. What I saw was that both countries struggled with coups. I listed when the coups took place in Turkiye and Pakistan.

Turkiye

First coup: May 27th 1960

First postmodern coup: March 12th 1971

Second Coup: September 12th 1980

Second postmodern coup: February 28th 1997

Pakistan

First Coup: 1958 (coup took over until 1971)

Second Coup: 1977 (coup took over until 1988)

Third Coup: 1999 (coup took over until 2007)

The interesting thing is that both countries are muslim and coups` years are very close one another. One different thing between two countries is that coup in Turkiye left in 1 or 2 years, on the other hand, coup took power very long in Pakistan. Altough Turkish government today gained power and democracy improves in Turkiye, the Turkish government still is not able to fully control the military yet. As far as I know Pakistan is worse than Turkiye and military in Pakistan is much stronger and is capable of stage a coup. I just want to say it does not matter how strong military we have if we cannot control them. Our military can be our nightmare and can setback everything we gained. What do you think?

I like to think and hope that coups are a thing of the past in Turkey. The military is tamed and they are a respected entity in their own sphere. Turkey has never experienced the amount of political stability it enjoys now. The people just made a right decision by electing the right people in parliament. We have become better at spotting the liars and corrupt. A country belongs to its people, not to its military. If it is the opposite a country is not a democracy but dictatorship.

IMO Turkey is pretty much out of the Danger zone, Stability and wealth is replacing Corruption and Poverty fast. But for Pakistan i fear the worst, Just like in Turkey ones the Civilian Goverment and the Army is in struggle for Power. I just hope one Erdogan will show up in Pakistan and straiten things out there.

coups are a thing of the past . in todays world it would he very difficult to actually have and sustain one , owing mainly to the international pressure and internal pressure. todays people do not dream of having the military in charge of any thing . most want democracies.

Inshallah he will come to power in the next year and do what Erdogan did for Turkey.

Thanks to the Turkish brothers for showing empathy. We in Pakistan do see a change is coming. But our corrupt system in which these corrupt politicians and generals thrive, will try everything to thwart it.

But since people are behind Imran Khan, who is very impressed with what Erdogan has achieved, no change other than Imran coming to power will be acceptable. In fact if Imran is not in power, there will be no change in our fortunes.

Is the military really tamed, brother? I think today`s change based on the Chief of Staff Gen. Necdet Ozel. The AKP government has not changed the laws yet which means when Necdet Ozel is retired and another Gen. assigned as Chief of Staff who is not as democrat as Necdet Ozel and carries the idea of old general such as Gen. Ilker Basbug or Gen. Yasar Buyukanit, then our democracy is in a big danger. Don`t forget, Recep Tayyip Erdogan still hesitate to retire those generals who tried to plot a coup to his government.

I do not think coup d'etat is far away for Pakistan. The Military is so powerful in Pakistan than Turkiye. As i said although we have control on the military we have not fully control yet. Don`t forget it is not that much easy to change Generals mind in a short time. It will require some time and new generation must be educated properly. That is how the military can be tamed

With your current PM who happens to have balls of steel , it is next to impossible for Generals now to capture Istanbul again. For Pakistan , if we could prove our collective intelligence and elect Imran Khan , then the chances of Boots in Islamabad are pretty slim.

There was the Mughal empire which was also originally a Turkic empire. But later it was heavily influenced by Persians. It lasted from 1526 to 1857 and ruled the whole Indian subcontinent + Pakistan and Afghanistan.
