Apple’s India Plan: Sell Used, Refurbished iPhones From China to Indians!

Apple bosses must be on some kind of delirium pill to think that Indians will buy 2nd hand Chinese Apple phones. They need to wake up and learn the reality that India has NO market for Apple.

Actually Apple needs to rethink about marketing iphone in India. They have only 2% market share. More than 120 million smartphones were sold in India in 2015 and sales are expected to touch 200 million sets in next 5 years. Penetration of smartphones is only 35% in India. So, there is room for improvement and growth in India considering that China smartphones sales are stagnating. Same with most of the developed world with people owning more than 2 phones per person.

4G/LTE transmission is being launched in most of the Indian cities and it will encourage smartphones including Apple Iphone sales to new levels.

If Apple wants to target middle and upper middle class in India then they have to come up with products that cater to these sections of people who can afford phones in $100-$250 range. Right now it costs around $500 to $1000 range for the latest Iphone 5 and 6 series.

Right now Apple focus in only on rich and elite. Refurbished phones is one strategy which will work with people who don't mind using used or second hand phones. For others(middle class) Apple has no strategy at present.

Refurbished Apple phones under Modi-ji's 'Make in India' movement should cost $250, which makes them affordable.

Refurbished phones will not appeal to many people. Generally people are sceptical about used stuff.

But many Indians use second-hand products. The Indian Railways is a second-hand product. Price and affordability are the number one priority for most Indians. Indians are legendarily cheap, and so long the price is good, they will buy.

Please elaborate

Indians being showed their rightful place in the world ;), hint, it comes from a person's behind...

.
Apple should not have disclosed the source of these used iPhones. They could have been more sensitive about market sentiment.

What?:coffee::undecided::pissed:
Time to boycott I phone, I would buy a new Samsung phone rather than using Chinese scrap.

My money is precious, i will not spend it on scrap, and I am not an I phone fan, only few jerks who are iPhone worshippers will be happy, and India is loaded with million options for phones, apple CEO can keep this used Chinese crap in his behind.

. . .
Apple's senior vice-president and chief financial officer Luca Maestri said iPhone sales volume grew 76% in the October-December quarter in India compared with 45% in Korea, the Middle East and Africa, 20% in several western European countries and 18% in mainland China.

Now they don't want to ruin their own market with these cheap refurbished phones.
