What's new

Apple's center of gravity is China, not Cupertino

Apple has been preparing to transfer its production chain to India in recent years, and Chinese companies that are unwilling to follow Apple to India have been kicked out.

Fortunately, Huawei's 5G mobile phone comeback has saved these Chinese companies that were kicked out by Apple.

Apple should be feeling the danger now.

Without finding a cost effective and skilled labor in China you simply can't exist.
Or you know more than Apple Ceo.
Don't argue for the sake of arguing.

I think it is unfair to tag China with cost-effectiveness only. In addition to Cost Effectiveness, they have the market, engineering talent pool, and expertise in manufacturing innovation that can not be replaced by any Asian country.

.
But, Apple US takes about 70% profits of all the Apple products manufactured in China, and China only takes about 5% to 7% of the Apple profits. Something has to change.

Because Chinese companies usually concentrate on specific products the Chinese want…not the world.

China just overtook US and became Apple's biggest market, we'll see what plays out in the future, Apple can't live without China.

Really? Overtook when? Where are you pulling these facts from?

The Americas region accounted for the largest share of Apple’s revenue in terms of geographical distribution. As of the third quarter of fiscal year 2023, the Americas held around 43 percent of the revenue, whereas Europe came in second with roughly 24.7 percent.

Although I wouldn’t be surprised if the Chinese love Apple more and more every year.

Only a fool will believe this. Apple is an American company 100% who just make their products in Cgina and India/Vietnam etc. If the Chinese believe Apple is now more akin to a Chinese company then I guess Apple did a good job than they can ever imagine..milk the Chinese and make as much profit as possible while making them believe Apple is there for China. Lol 😁
It's like Huawei hypothetically making their phones and products in U.S and Americans being happy that Huawei heart or centre of gravity is in the US and being proud of that. 😂😂🤣

No Apple centre of gravity is China, they can't move their manufacturing out of China. 😆

All those Chinese people bent on buying Iphones are nuts, after all Huawei products are banned in the US.
Chinese like many people love Iphone and apple . That wouldn't change much. Apple's fans are very fanatic about Apple products and they wouldn't change that because of Huawei or whatever. That's what differentiates Apple from others phone manufacturers. They have built a very loyal fan bays and differentiated their products from others. Its difficult to beat that.

Xi must be feeling the heat. Apple can take out several hundred thousand jobs out of China

Cupertino is heart of Apple's engineering

China manufactures only because Apple provides the blueprints and engineering skills to make them

In case Apple will hedge
By the time India becomes the hub for Apple's manufacturing, Apple would be an outdated brand like Nokia producing regular cellphones in an age of smartphones.

How do you think Apple builds or run their factories in China ? They own every step of the process.

I never said anything about Chinese engineers. All I am saying the center of gravity is Cupertino not Shenzhen. The blueprint to build is in Cupertino
False.
iPhone's battery supplier is Amperex, a Chinese battery manufacturing giant, an equivalent of which does not exist in neither India nor US, nor does Apple possess an in-house equivalent.

If Apple moves out of China, doesn't matter if it's in India or elsewhere, not only do they lose access to the most advanced and efficient supply chain logistics in the world but also lose a fair bit of market share to their fierce Chinese competitors, i.e. in the form of Huawei. 20% is no joke.

Shenzhen is the electronics capital of the world, the ideal place to operate because you can find the entire supply chain of every component within the city.

Also, be aware that the Chinese market is much wealthier than Indian, and can buy more of the expensive items. 85% of Indians in 2023 live under $6.50/day, according to World Bank.

Quit pretending like China has a monopoly on anything Apple does

You mean Apple can cut its revenue by 20%

Apple employs 1 million Chinese altogether

So, import from South Korea, manufacture in India and then export to China is better than manufacture everything and sell in China? LOLOLOLOLOL
Apple employs 1 million Chinese altogether
And?

Apple's production capacity will be used to produce other phones.

China has begun punishing Foxconn, Apple's contract manufacturer.

How's that? Lol
The thing is China's supply chain is necessary but not indispensable. If the US government national security threats focused foreign policy carries on then Apple will have no choice than to derisk from China and move many of its products manufacturing outside China since the risk will not match the return on investment anymore. This is what they have been doing encouraged by US government. Its not something Apple wanted but they have no choice or say over US foreign policy.

Well Apple has a similar situation going on that WeChat has (cashless) with people using specifics of it for everyday convenience..and would be tough to have people dump WeChat for a phone that doesn't support it even if it that new phone was amazing.

Apple Pay is in 80+ countries...including those in Asia
