Apple Stumbles in China as Local Phone Makers Head Up-Market

I concur with you for the most part.

Apple does usually shell out premium quality products. Some of those products will continue (despite what some nationalists here might say) to sell very well in China (and all over the planet)

Just for the record, I'm a very happy Galaxy Note 5 owner who is far from an apple fanboy. In fact, I find some Apple fanboys to be quite cultish in their worship. The term "iCattle" is very fitting for them.

This has limited relations with nationalists.

The main reason Apple decrease in China because Apple can't answer consumers' a question: Why you sells at such a high price in China? You know China occupy 9 out of 12 largest smartphone brand worldwide, Apple is the worst cost-effective one. When consumer have lots of good choices, Apple's high price become more and more beyond understable.

I would differ with your opinion, I agree with you though that Apple charges a premium over its products but it delivers the best build quality and premium products that usually perform better in the long run.
That is not true at all. If you want to know if a phone quality is good, ask yourself if you can open it without causing any damage. Of course, you can't look up for "help".

The main reason Iphone charges a premium (likewise the Samsung Galaxy) is because they spend a shitloat of money on marketing. Those marketing reinforce the perception of high-quality. Those need to be recuperated by charging a high price. If you want to know if Iphone quality is good, like I said above and also see how many people complain. Generally speaking, most top level phones are high-quality because they use premium material (metal, unibody). However that doesn't mean there won't be any defect in the production. Also the stability of the software is very important.

I recently retired my old Iphone 5S and switched to Huawei Mate 8 (6 inch screen, 64GB). I also bought a Huawei watch. The two Huawei stuff cost me CNY 6,000.

With this amount of money, I could only buy an Iphone 6S. If I want an Apple Watch, I need to pay an additional CNY 5,000. That doesn't make sense to me.

Here is the picture of my Huawei phone and watch. I love them.

If it was me, I would buy 4 phones. Let me ask you this, would you settle for one wife or several wives?

Would you have an actress as your wife or 4 maids as 4 wives?

I beg to differ here.

Apple has taken decades to come up with their iOs OS which is a derivative of the OsX desktop OS. The money you are paying for Apple includes the best optimized software and OS, a clean and safe App store with the latest applications and mobile (Android envy) which Apple take effort to maintain it, the ecosystem of iCloud, the versatility to sync data seamlessly over iPhone, desktop and iPad, the top notch security (I know you would argue here), the top notch customer care support.

The most important - niggle free and lag free experinece of using the phone. Have you tried the TouchID of 6s?

What a load of craps.

Best optimized software? You do realize comparing to Android, the update Android provide is 3x more than Apple users right? In fact, there is an update for Android EVERY SINGLE Month as oppose to quarterly by Apple (that if they even bother to do it). There is no such thing as clean and safe App store. All apps can be hack. iCloud is nothing special. All Android phones come with automatic cloud saving. This include saving all their data, apps, files with just signing in to their user account. Android Google map is also better than Apple. The Chrome browser is better than Safari. Fingerprint is nothing. Almost every premium Android got fingerprint. In fact, the fingerprint on the latest Huawei Nexus 6p is faster than Apple.

Yes, you get all of these features in Android for about 40% less on Android phone. What really come down is simply marketing. Apple spends 10x on marketing than any Android player (except Samsung Galaxy). And that is the main reason for the "premium price". Learn more.

I was a loyal Iphone user in the past few years. I bought three Iphones during the period: iPhone 4, 4s and 5s. But now I switch to Huawei. Why? Because I no longer believe Iphone worth the amount of money that I paid.

When I bought my first Iphone, it was no doubt the best phone on the world. So it deserved the money I paid. But nowadays, it's just one of the best phones on the world, so it no longer makes sense to me to pay a significant premium to it.

My wife shares similar opinion with me. She bought a Xiaomi one year ago, which is just 25% to the price of iPhone. What she said to me is: I believe you were robbed by Apple, it's crazy to pay so much money to a phone.

what you use Iphone or Huawei for?
less than 200$ phone could do most of tasks, am I right?

I prefer Windows OS than Android, a month an update sound like Firefox.

I never heard such a definition of quality of a phone or any product "If you want to know if a phone quality is good, ask yourself if you can open it without causing any damage", rather it maybe definition of the quality/skill-level of the person who tries to open the phone. Where did you read this definition. The quality of a product is judged based on the stated objectives and purpose of product design. If the design and process deliver on the stated objectives or not. Apple never claims that their phones are user serviceable and thus that is not one of the objectives during design and development of their products and they are very open about it. It is up to the user to accept their products or not. As far as stability and usefulness of features is concerned, I still think iOS is better in terms of stability and usefulness of the features than Android based on my experience. However Android is getting better and I got the best android experience from the Nexus.

It is one of those unwritten knowledge that you can try to tell the quality apart since nowadays high-end phone all have metal unibody and very tightly build. The only way to tell the difference is how you open it. The aesthetics of these high-end phone is just too good for eye-ball test. You cannot tell the quality apart until you open up the phone to see the hardware layout.

Why so many updates? Because you have an open OS which is not controlled by your manufacturer but a third party Google who dishes out all the crap with least concern for security. You are forked with apps which have ads in it.

Apple controls the hardware and software, everything is thought out well before any major release of iOs. They don't need to keep harassing their users with crappy updates simply because it is not required.

Apple = secure. There is a trust Apple users have in Apple ecosystem and the relentless approach towards privacy and security.

Android good parts are only those which are available off the shelf. Just fit it. There is no optimization. Just add 4GB RAM and sell it like iPhone 1 GB RAM, we have 4 GB at 1/4th price. Android marketing relies on creating absolute VFM.

And Android doesn't make money. I don't trust a system which is loss making and its future looks bleak.

I agree that Apple is worth buying but upgrading every year is not for everyone's pocket friendly. If you find value in other phones, good for you. Not saying they are useless. Every phone does the job for somebody.

For many people, only iPhone does the job until a proper replacement exists!

we are ok with Microsoft Lumia 5.7"
Ram 1GB Windows 10
Falled to the floor several times, still work well.

No. The monthly update is mainly for security and a few minor hotfix. If you use third party Android (non-pure Android), you will obviously face with junk apps like the Samsung Galaxy. But that is obviously the choice of the user. A fair comparison would be pure Android phone like the Huawei Nexus or the Lenovo Motorola X. You have pure Android experience for half the price of Apple Iphone but pretty much experience the same features.

The FBI just crack Apple security so that tell you how secure it is. Like I said, if you are good hacker, everything can be hack.

The reason for more RAM on Android phone is due to the complete customization of the Android phone. It has nothing to do with iOS being more optimized. That is a lie. You cannot customized Apple unless you root it. If you root it, then you're finished.

How you know Android don't make money? Google made a ton of money off advertising and revenue sharing from the app developers. Yeah future looks bleak? LOL Is that a joke? Android is taking market share away from iOS. LOL

I am a user of android smartphones such as Samsung and ASUS. Some of my relatives use Huawei and some use Apple. Therefore, I have first hand experience with offerings of a number of famous brands.

Believe me! Apple is a class apart from others (very stable platform with much less clutter to worry about). In the android segment, Samsung is the king. But I am sick of cleaning the clutter in my android smartphones again and again.

Iphone 6s Plus is an excellent smartphone; its camera, in particular, impressed me most. Only Samsung Galaxy S7 series smartphones match it.
