India is currently the world's second largest phone manufacturer . Samsung and almost all major Chinese companies Xiaomi, Oppo Vivo etc manufacture in India. You think there's some superior technology inside apple phones that makes them hard to manufacture as compared to other phones? Apple phones are just like any other phone in the price range. You don't need any major expertise or technology to manufacture an iphone. Of course incompetent countries like Pakistan might not be able to manufacture them, but a country with a successful space program and phone, auto industry like India surely can.

It might work out, who knows. I think the Chinese smartphone makers build supply chains in India because India is a huge market for them so it makes sense.
