sir apache is by far a superior and war proven winner over mi-28. Anti-tank guided missile is where mi28 lags behind american counterpart - shturm-V is alright but nothing to brag about.

Easier said than done. Nobody's willing to sell us the Havoc. Besides, we might go for ATAK-A129. There's no reason to discuss a buying option when it isn't even on the table.

And do YOU know what Russia wants to do? Or did you hear anything about Pakistan Army's willingness to buy the Havoc? what I CAN tell you, is that we aren't buying the havocs and that's from a credible source within the Army, NOT Google.

If there's any any plans to buy the havoc, I'd be the first one to post it.

yes we dont have any news nor our army willing to buy i agree with you but if we got apaches and as we know americans never ever can be trusted if they again dont sell us its spares it will be huge mistake as for russian havoc if our army reconsider its decission and ask russia to sell us which is 50/50 if we get havoc im sure russians are not as americans they can be trusted you see after cold war we went towards usa and supported them and indians went towards soviet union and supported them know we see our biggest friend usa is saying that india is our best friend and india is getting hi tech weapons from russia and usa what ever they will they get we only got drom usa F 16 for 40 years of friendship i hope pakistan learn some lessons and make its policies countries interest im sure in future even usa will not sale us weapons so we have to go for china and russia

Currently Pakistan is procuring more AH-1F Cobras as a stop gap measure until T-129 ATAK begins full production in 2012/2013. It is of most people's opinion that T-129 ATAK should fill the needs of the next generation flying tank (upgraded and domestic Turkish produced version of Mangusta) though there are choices of Euro Tiger (not likely), Chinese Z-10 (still in testing phase, missing a domestic produced engine) or Apache (even more unlikely now with Obama in office).

We should weigh our options carefully and not live in dreams, AH-1F can totally do the job of Mi 28 Havoc and when T-129 arrives it will be the most superior attack helicopter in South Asia.

As far as Tiger is Concerned, it's way too expensive for us. Personally, I'd want the Army to go for AH-1 Super Cobra simply because we've operated the Cobra's for a long time and our experience with them certainly will be helpful if we procure the new Super cobra's.

Rooivalk is DEAD...Euro Tiger was rejected by the Turks, as well as all the US and Russian options. Read about their tender process here. What is the point of Pakistan to run around looking for options when our defense ally has done that for us.

WASHINGTON: The U.S. Defense Department said on Friday it approved sales of radar and aircraft upgrades, missiles and other equipment valued at $1.01 billion to four U.S. allies including Pakistan.

The Pentagon's Defense Security Cooperation Agency said these U.S. allies are: Pakistan, France, Saudi Arabia and Turkey.

The Pentagon said it had approved the sale of AH-1F Cobra helicopter refurbishment and associated equipment to Pakistan.

The Pentagon said the refurbishment would help Pakistan's efforts to defeat Taliban and al Qaeda fighters in its tribal areas, used as bases to launch attacks against U.S. troops in Afghanistan, and to conduct other counterterrorism missions.

The prime contractor will be US Helicopter in Ozark, Alabama.

You're comparing our Air Force fleet and their plans with the procurement of attack helicopter for the army? You can't be serious. Two different military sectors my friend, VERY different.

And by the way, Super cobra isn't something out-dated, it's a latest advanced attack helicopter capable just as much as the MI-28. Not only that, it's combat TESTED. Secondly, It's not costly like the other contenders. Just because you have a personal liking to the MI-28 doesn't mean that we should (Or would) procure it for our Army Aviation.

The Longbow Apache can effect an attack in 30 seconds. The radar dome is unmasked for a single radar scan and then remasked. The processors determine the location, speed and direction of travel of a maximum of 256 targets.

The target acquisition designation sight, TADS (AN/ASQ-170), and the pilot night vision sensor, PNVS (AN/AAQ-11), were developed by Lockheed Martin. The turret-mounted TADS provides direct-view optics, television and three-fields-of-view forward-looking infrared (FLIR) to carry out search, detection and recognition, and Litton laser rangefinder / designator. PNVS consists of a FLIR in a rotating turret located on the nose above the TADS. The image from the PNVS is displayed in the monocular eyepiece of the Honeywell integrated helmet And display sighting system, IHADSS, worn by the pilot and copilot / gunner.

"The AH-64D Longbow Apache is equipped with the Northrop Grumman millimetre-wave Longbow radar."Lockheed Martin has developed a new targeting and night vision system for the Apache, using second-generation long-wave infrared sensors with improved range and resolution. Countermeasures

The Apache is equipped with an electronic warfare suite consisting of: AN/APR-39A(V) radar warning receiver from Northrop Grumman (formerly Litton) and Lockheed Martin; Lockheed Martin AN/APR-48A Radar Frequency Interferometer Electronic Support target acquisition system; AN/ALQ-144 infra-red countermeasures set from BAE Systems IEWS (formerly Sanders, a Lockheed Martin company); AN/AVR-2 laser warning receiver from Goodrich (formerly Hughes Danbury Optical Systems then Raytheon); AN/ALQ-136(V) radar jammer developed by ITT; and chaff dispensers.

US Army Longbow Apaches were to be fitted with the ITT AN/ALQ-211 SIRCM (suite of integrated radio frequency countermeasures) suite, however the availability of funding for this project is uncertain.

UK AH mk1 Apaches are fitted with BAE Systems helicopter integrated defensive aids suite (HIDAS), also chosen by Kuwait and Greece. HIDAS, which includes the Sky Guardian 2000 radar warning receiver, entered service on the AH mk1 in July 2003.

Israeli AH-64D helicopters are fitted with the Elisra Seraph self-protection system, including SPS-65 missile warner and SPJ-40 radar jammer.

Dutch AH-64D helicopters are being fitted with the Northrop Grumman directional infrared countermeasures (DIRCM) pod.
