Any idea about replacement of INSAS as standard rifile?

multiple reasons, consistent failure of DRDO in investing adequate funds and HR in rifle design. quality issues plaguing the OFB and the general reluctance of the Army to go for ingenious products made by drdo/ofb.

it is basically a gridlock, OFB/DRDO don't want to invest in R&D because they say IA isn't committed to buy indian made equipment, IA blames them in return for making poor quality equipment. it is a vicious cycle.

The army is not against indigenous stuff. It is DRDO which must be held accountable for its consistent failures and low efficiency. Compare DRDO and ISRO. DRDO needs heavy reforms to come out of this slump.

IMO both parties are at fault.

A country can't even produce a rifle wanna challenge China every time. One word to describe: unbelievable!

DRDO does a great job under restrictive conditions. In the coming years DRDO will start to turn around its image just because it will benefit from the massive increase in budget and the decades of R&D leading up to the point and they will start to score success after success. You can already sort of see these results from DRDO- each year many many success one after the other.

What was army doing for a decade? If they wanted next gen INSAS rifles they could have asked MOD to fund such a project and DRDO to start work. They could have done this by middle of the last decade. As far as comparing ISRO and DRDO, ISRO is both the development agency aswell as the user, while DRDO is only the former. ISRO has always insisted on indigenisation unlike the IA or IAF and today after iterations they have world class technologies.

Tell me why India can't make a decent rifle by yourself?

Were these made by the great CCP then

Hahaha who tell you to belive it ???
And yes we can't make a decent firearm for our forces so ??? And where do you see Indians demanding Chinese arms ??? If not why are you tring to sell it :D

I am fed up by this BS. China makes its own weapon and India buy it. I thought you are the sensible amounge these trolls

What china make is a copy and modification without licence. We don't do that. Chinese and Indian approach is different in this field. It was lead us to today's position. China is under arms and techno sanction and Indian has every possible option in its hands. Our manufacturing sector isn't in good shape yet and our forces don't accept low quality material so we have to buy it frm outside. We get licence to produce with tech which give out PSUs experience in manufacturing and needed techs

Well awesome
No one replied to my questions...If the new Multi-cal by DRDO is no trials then why no pics are information available about the rifle? When can we possibly have a look at them.

Its the same rifle IA wants to replace. :D

The IA wants to replace the INSAS is because the concept of warfare has changed...now battle concepts revolve around MOUT, CQB. Thats why they want to change their AR as the INSAS has out lived these new doctrines and concepts. The INSAS is not going to be retired from CAPFs, Police Forces or other forces anywhere in the distant future.

Insas has been in service for more than 15 yrs now and we are now looking for new AR which fit to our new doctrine to have multi cal AR.
