“Defensa”: Morocco is in negotiations to buy the Israeli “Dalilah” missile

Morocco has held negotiations with the Israeli company Elbit Systems to purchase Israeli-made “Delilah” cruise missiles, which are capable of hitting land and sea targets at a distance of more than 250 km, according to the Spanish newspaper Defensa.

Morocco wants to acquire Israeli "Delila" missiles to enhance its air power, by owning cruise missiles.

According to the newspaper, negotiations are underway to reach an agreement with Elbit Systems. But the approval of the Israeli security services is necessary for the deal to come to fruition.

Morocco wants to integrate the Israeli missile with the American “F-5” aircraft that it is planning to develop.

“Dalilah” is a short-range, air-to-ground and surface-to-surface missile that can be launched from outside the range of air defenses. It was first revealed to the public in 1995. It is equipped with GPS satellite navigation systems, INS internal navigation and a bi-directional data link, in addition to a dual seeker CCD/ IIR to confirm that the target has been hit through the images it transmits to the aircraft. It is activated at the last stage of the trajectory to increase the accuracy of the hit, and this seeker can detect the target from a distance of 16 km with the ability to automatically track moving targets.

Israel used the missile in combat for the first time in July 2006 when the Israeli Air Force fired a "Dalilah" missile from an F-16 aircraft targeting a convoy of trucks suspected of transporting weapons from Syria to Lebanon.

Who said anything about Morocco having influence over Israel? Stop with your straw man arguments every country pursues their own interests and Morocco is doing exactly that.

Political analyst on the official Algerian channel:

"The Makhzen (Morocco) agreed with the Moroccan lobby in Israel to transfer Israeli defense technology, and there is a pledge by Omer Baris to transfer nuclear weapon technology if Israel does not sell nuclear warheads to the Makhzen (Morocco)..

I think this is just typical Algerian scaremongering and propaganda trying to up the ante in relations between the two nations and is primarily for internal Algerian consumption fuelled by their obsession with everything Moroccan.

The Delilah is an attack missile launched from outside the range of air defenses. It was revealed in 1995. It is equipped with GPS satellite navigation systems, INS internal navigation, and a two-way data link, in addition to a CCD/IIR dual seeker to confirm the injury through the images it transmits to the aircraft. Activate it at the last stage of the trajectory to increase the accuracy of the hit. This dual seeker can detect a target from a distance of 16 km with the ability to automatically track day and night moving targets.

The accuracy of hitting the missile is less than one meter, and its maximum speed reaches Mach 0.85-0.9 when hitting the target..

The Delilah missile is considered one of the most secret Israeli weapons, as it relied on naming all generations of this missile and its updates on the same name without any designation indicating the difference of generations, and it is confirmed according to Israeli Defense Ministry publications that the copies delivered to the Air Force today differ from those that were delivered In the nineties, despite their almost identical formality.

The Israelis have been seeking a coating that helps absorb radar waves for years, and it is called Signaflux, and it seems that the Israelis are trying to reduce the radar signature of their offensive weapons, including the Delilah, and modern versions of the Delilah may have been equipped with this stealth coating.

It is also possible that the Israelis have developed an anti-radar version of the Delilah missile by benefiting from their extensive experience in manufacturing the passive seeker of the HARPY anti-radar suicide drone in all its versions.

It is possible as well that they have developed an electronic warfare version similar to the British SPEAR missile with a DRFM ability to jam, perhaps to protect a group of missiles targeting a location.

According to the Defensa newspaper, Morocco is seeking to operate the Israeli missile on its F-5-2000 fighters in a first stage..
