He is a Parliamentarian in that country. I am not saying that "off with his head" ........ I am of the view that this needs to be stopped and our ignoring it won't stop it. What government of Pakistan did was well within their rights and correct approach. Against the views that want us to ignore it and don't pay any attention to it.

This is one thing where we do want the world to know that we can get violent, this is the red line, if somebody crosses it then he/she should be ready to face the consequences.

If somebody is from a non-muslim country(including India) then sure as part of free speech they can ridicule Islam or Muslims. Often people make fun of our concept of heaven with 72 virgins, we have no problem with them doing that. But ridiculing the Prophet(SAW) will turn the most moderate of muslims into what you deem a fanatic.

The only side people like Wilders are actually supporting by such acts are the extremists. A young muslim seeing such blatant disrespect of the Prophet(SAW) will become angry yes, but even more than that he/she will feel helpless when he/she sees that people who are suppose to represent him are unable to defend the honor of the Prophet(SAW). And that helplessness is the main cause of extremism in Muslim world.

It is in the interest of the Muslim world that governments take this issue seriously, this will increase their legitimacy in the eyes of the people and marginalize even further the extremist groups.

And no, there is no way of making us accept this as part of the right to free speech, your liberty to swing your fists ends just where my nose begins.
