Anti-India Anger in Nepal as Flow of Essential Supplies Dries Up

No not yet. Yesterday they told Nepalese ambassador that they have already asked officials at customs to halt unofficial embargo. And today 60 Nepali oil Tankers went to siliguri to fill up their tanks through non protest kakarvitta route and they allowed to fill only 6 tanks. NOC replied right away that we want petrol to run economy of this country and not to spray a perfume and refused to import 6 oil tankers.

Trade Embargo Wreaks Havoc : Nepal Is Paying the Price for Standing Up to India - latimes
According to this article from 1989 during the Indian blockade of Nepal, things were so desperate that Bangladesh govt air lifted 1000 tons of petroleum to Kathmandu to easy the blockade effects. I think we should now co-operate like that before and start air lifting vital supply to Nepal to lessen the effect of the blockade until a solution is achieved.

But our ultimate goal should be to create an economic corridor from Bangladesh to Nepal through the Chicken neck. The narrowest point from Bangladesh border to Nepal border is only 25 km. So a underground tunnel might be a feasible idea in a long run. I think it is the only way to solve the Indian bully problem.

Why don't you use CPEC to resolve the crisis in Syria? Isn't that more urgent than Nepal internal political dispute?

I'm not poking my nose into CPEC, but just throwing CPEC around as if its Dumbledore's wand makes you look very ill informed on just about everything.

BTW CPEC goes through occupied Indian territory :)

You need burnol. :D

Are you implying you can dig a tunnel in our land without our approval?

I think one irrational basel like character was enough for one thread.

Indian Government hasnt imposed any blockade.

India has denied that it has issued any order for a “blockade” at the Indo-Nepal border that has seen over 2,000 trucks parked on the Indian side waiting to go in. Hundreds of Indian truckers have been stranded in Nepal as well, as protesters angry with the new Constitution adopted by Nepal have blocked the crossing-points to pressure the government in Kathmandu.

Nepal gets 100% of its fuel from the Indian Oil Corporation.

The C & F agents have told The Hindu that more than 2,000 containers are lying on the Kolkata port compound and cannot move to the border areas as the movement of goods is “not picking up.” At least 4,000 to 5,000 containers are stranded in various entry points on the border, the C & F agents association said.

India has dismissed suggestions that it has imposed any embargo against the supplies to Nepal and has maintained that the obstruction was due to protest and unrest in that country as Indian companies and transporters fear for their safety and security.

At least 40 people have died in over a month of clashes between police and protesters from the Madhesi and Tharu communities and ethnic minorities.

Madhesis are Indian-origin inhabitants of the Terai region bordering India who are opposed to splitting Nepal into seven provinces.

@SomeGuy @Indus Falcon pls note hundreds of Indian trucks are stuck even on the Nepali side of border unable to move East. Nothing to do with Indian blockade. Nepals internal problem and internal blockade.

The investment is not the issue the transmission line however is.

The transmission line needs to pass through chicken neck.
Nepal uses only kolkata port. It however started doing homework on using Bangaldeshi ports but the chicken neck is creating issues.
Yes bangladesh cottons are being used by Nepali brands. Maybe bangaldeshi electronics too can have a good market. Japanese cars, Korean cars are all imported through kolkata port.
Only if we could build overhead highways to connect Nepal and Bangladesh. We could really work together. Nepal could sell BangLadesh vegetables, milk, cheese, butter , herbs etc. It would be wonderful journey together. No bullying but just mutual respect to each other .

Wow so you openly support Russia for crimea? And maybe America for bombing afganistan and iraq too. Ukraine is an independent countries and it is free to take descision on its own. Not listen to some big bad bully. And Russia thought it could easily get away with it, but the world is always watching. If Ukraine took a descision as an independant nation that Russia dint want then I donot think its Ukraine's mistake. Russia is still dealing with losses it had to suffer as the world chose not to keep quite and act.

Nepal had issues with India exploring oil mines in Vietnam? Did Nepal have any concern when India developed Nuclear missile?

You know how many articles we read about what India wants in Nepal and yet we chose not to care or listen to it until now. We thought these are mere commies obsessed with India. But how India placed an embargo made things crystal clear.
And again I am tired of explaining that to everyone that even non protest areas have blockades.
And stop insulting the great man by using his photo as DP and having thoughts like these. Where you encourage bullying and not respect the countries sovereignity. I advise you to read APJ Kalam's beautiful and subtle quotations.

Tracks to China oepned yesterday morning and India apparently officially called off unofficial blockade yesterday evening. I dont trust them so easily.
There was time when we so grandly welcomed Modiji on streets and today even a 2 year old kid is saying #backoffindia .

Did you actually think that we are gonna trusts your claim that some areas dont have any blockage ?
Never .70 trucks are burned and your security didnt do anything to stop that .Then your leaders flock in to China got some steroid and tried to use against us.
If that was easy all you need is to take some photos and post with news about no blockage .So far we didnt see anyone .
Russia is still there and they have Chinese support and spanking West in Syria.

We dont care these #backoffIndia

We know what happened .When those madhesis turned against you after constitution ,your leaders thought that GoI would use their influence to stop them. When we employed a non intereference policy your leaders took it against by attacking our PM and govt without any ground ,solid evidence .Only on the basis of some emotion.

Your people pushed that too far when you burned the effigy of our PM.

You are a Nepali not an Indian. But Abdul Kalam was an Indian. The Indian who got 30 death threats from non state actors of our western neighbour .because of his leadership in his missile developement. You dont have any right to question me with our former President name .

There are 3 smaller countries that feel bullied by India. These are Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka. If all of them are saying the same thing then there must be some value in their words.

Respected sir, no body is bullying anyone here. Nepal has already started airlifting their fuel supply from India only.

I am studying this a bit and it is noticable that any country heavily under anothers sphere of influence tends to dislike said country. Examples I noted with India were there but there are examples in Canadian dislike for Americans and Afghans dislike of Pakistanis. Each of the said country is a shadow of the other country and in its sphere of influence. Afghanistan does not even have a stable currency and uses the Pakistani rupee often. A very clear dislike is visible for Pakistan in Afghanistan and India in sri lanka Bengal and Nepal.

Often India dictates all 3 states foreign policy.

With all due respect Sir - you are correct, however Indians in Bangladesh are doing more than dictate foreign policy. They are physically visible in our DGFI (our version of ISI) thanks to our Indian puppet regime.

Indians are dictating our military purchases as well as our trade policy (including transit and water conditionalities with India).

In any case - I give the present Ram Rajya administration in India another two/three years of shelf life at a maximum (in spite of Modi's sly cunning in hiding his communal agenda) until Indians basically realize they made a mistake in electing him. The world has gone way past this communal BS and Indians will get tired of it too (or will hopefully see the light) as the case may be.

At that point Bangladesh as an affected entity will get rid of SHW puppet regime and be able to chart its own course as far as trade and foreign policy goes.

Coups and violent overthrows of govts. in smaller countries like Bangladesh are passé - it chases away FDI. People like stability and prosperity in their lives rather than living in uncertainty and fear....

Otherwise SHW would have would already have been joined with her father...if some people felt committed enough.

I agree..Here is the fact and the truth, if Nepal depends completely on India, they have to allign India's interest where they do not work with the elements who are anti Indian...If they do not want work in this deal, they have the option to choose a better option...You can not expect that Nepal will get all the extra benifit and also start flirting with China to harm Indian interest..

Nepal can now, start working on building pipeline and sending their people to have job in China...We do not mind it..

^^^ So end result is you are surrounded by enemies you have created yourself. Deliberately. These enemies may be weak now but given the history of general laxity in India itself - they will not stay weak forever. Like we see in the case of Pakistan.

How is that for a far-reaching strategy with your neighbors?? Pick fights with everyone until they get you by the jugular? And then say uncle and ask for forgiveness?

Every one of India's neighbors hates their guts.....even 'co-religionist' countries.

This is the cost of being the (by far) largest and most powerful nation in the region.

Powerful nation? List some achievements of this nation that made it powerful apart from bullying other nations?

Everyone is India's brother before they show opposition to India. Oppressed Bengali patriots turn into "dark Lungi fish-munchers". Hindu brothers up North turn into "chinky-nippy gooks". Heck, it happens in India. Fellow Indian compatriots at one point, "sub-human untouchable Dalits" at the another.
Lolzz but one thing stays and that is, no matter how much india calls surrounding nations her brothers...but atleast ppl of south india and north india hate each other so much to call EACH OTHER brothers. A fun thing.
