Dileepan Mahendran, a 25-year-old from Nagapattinam chose to take to social media to express his frustration against the system - but he opted for a far more controversial method and now bears the grim consequences of it.

He was arrested on February 1 by the Pulianthope police in Chennai, and is currently in a remand home. But his arrest, according to his lawyer Elangovan, marked the beginning of alleged gruesome police brutality.

According to the lawyer, policemen beat him up through the night of arrest and he was then blindfolded and taken to an undisclosed location. “He was told to stand still by two men - they threatened to kill him if he moved,” said Elangovan. With a broken hand and three fingers fractured, Dileepan was taken to Stanley Hospital where the men had told hospital officials not to provide him adequate treatment because he was a “traitor”, said his lawyer. He then alleged that the police had threatened him to keep quiet about the issue in court.

Why negotiate a ceasefire when the SL govt. is doing something right? And yes we flew over SL to deliver the aid while also allowing them and in fact supporting them in crushing the LTTE. As I can see, it was win-win for India in every way (except for the brief period where Rajapaksa was letting the Chinese influence reign supreme).

India came to the rescue of Prabhakaran back in 1986 when he his terrorist outfit was corned and about to be annihilated. It was India that forcefully tried to come to the aid of the "Tamils" by invading Sri Lankan skies and seas.

Even though Prabhakaran is dead. The ideology he fought is still alive. India hasn't drop it's support for the cause of the Prabhakaran.

The defeated Tamil people are suffering in Jaffna etc. There is no rehabitation. SL army is occupying large areas of land and Tamils are not allowed in thgeir homes. But Sinhales are settled there.

Tamil people has not been defeated. Only the LTTE was defeated. And Tamils don't suffer in Jaffna. What kind proof do you have to validate your claims? SL Army is occupying land because for the national security. War was over just 8 years ago. Army will leave Jaffna when things gets to normal overtime. Tamils should understand the situation rather than protesting like they have been invaded. The whole of Sri Lanka is there's not just Jaffna.
