‘Pipelines may not sustain Iranian gas pressure’ - Pakistan - DAWN.COM

Basically what it says is that our gas infrastructure can't handle the pressure that we are buying from Iran. Not sure if this is a valid concern.

How does this shit happen?
  1. Governments kept touting Thar coal and coal based power plants only to find out that transport infrastructure needs huge investments.
  2. LNG created a hype and later we found that no sorry we need more dredging in Port Qasim
  3. Now this gas thing
Were these issues identified and catered for before announcing these projects? Guess this is what happens when your bureaucracy is incompetent and political.

This sort of Sh*t happens when you have Non-technical, sifarshi ppl at Technical posts sucking life and draining resources of Govt departments on useless foreign trips and fu*king up the country down the gutter ..

This is simply incorrect. The pressure in the system can be and is controlled very easily. We are buying gas from Iran, not pressure.

.
We are building a brand new Gas pipeline from Iran to our Gas filed Nawabshah gas distribution hub, In a hub you can easily modify pressure.

.
There is one thing called Pressure Regulator valves. These are extensively used to regulate pressures depending upon need on the other hand. Even a layman knows that.

.
I guess they meant the volume of gas (mmcfd) we are importing can not be handled by the current infrastructure.
And what about the pricing?

oh bhai jaan

there is gas load shedding in Iran. They cannot export any gas until they get $100s of billions upgrades to their gas wells and infrastructure. Such upgrades may take upto 5 years before Iranian gas can flow through these lines.

Like other posters said, we buy volume not pressure.

Also Iranian rates have to be renegotiated. That's yet another hurdle if all else gets done somehow.

This news piece is yellow journalism at its best

This is a solvable problem. Don't worry about it. For starters, the operational cost will be higher as it will not be possible to push enough volume. But gradually, the infrastructure will be strengthened. It happens everywhere.
