BSF trooper, 2 civilians killed as Pakistani forces target Jammu villages
Pakistan Rangers opened heavy fire and shot mortars on Indian villages and posts in RS Pura, Arnia and Ramgarh sub-sectors since 6.30 am on Friday.

A Border Security Force jawan was among three Indians killed on Friday and nearly 25 people were injured when Pakistani troops targeted Indian villages with artillery and mortar in the latest flare-up along the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.
The jawan was the second BSF personnel killed since Wednesday in repeated ceasefire violations by the neighbouring country.
India and Pakistan frequently accuse each other of violating a 2003 truce along the highly militarised border between the two neighbours.
Samba deputy commissioner Sheetal Nanda confirmed identified the jawan as head constable Jagpal Singh of 176 Battalion of the BSF, who was posted near the Chillyari outpost in Samba sector. He hailed from Rajasthan.
A police officer said two other BSF jawans suffered injuries in the shelling along the in Arnia, RS Pura, Ramgarh and Hiranagar subsectors of Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts along the International Border.
At least 23 villagers have also been reported injured in the three districts.

Earlier this morning, at least two villagers including a-25-year old youth were killed on when Pakistan Rangers – the neighbouring country’s border guards – shelled Indian villages and outposts.
On Wednesday night, Pakistani shelling and firing had killed a BSF head constable, A Suresh, and a 17-year-old girl Neelam in Arnia sub sector.
Officials said after a brief lull in the morning, Pakistani army started shelling Indian posts and forward areas along the LoC in Jhangar area of Nowshera sector in Rajouri on Friday afternoon.
“Heavy shelling reported in Jhangar area of Nowshera in Rajouri. Alert was already sounded,” said Rajouri deputy commissioner Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary.
Additional deputy commissioner of Jammu district, Dr Arun Kumar Manhas, said schools within a 4 km radius of the border have been closed as a preventive measure.
Panicked over the intense shelling, people of the affected areas are not venturing out of their houses. Big explosions could be heard on audio clips shared on WhatsApp groups.
Pakistan’s foreign ministry this week said Indian forces carried out more than 100 ceasefire violations in Kashmir in January.
It said the “unprecedented escalation in ceasefire violations” by India forces was continuing since 2017 when the Indian forces committed more than 1900 ceasefire violations and deliberately targeted civilian population.
Ironically, India never ever admits more than a single military causality on any day, yet it's quick to claim multiple Pakistani casualties after every clash.
