What's new

Another ATR Plane Catches Fire During Take Off in Multan ( all grounded)

As mentioned previously, someone wants to get these all grounded so that new ones would be bought or leased for some hefty kickbacks
If it's true than they truly are azzholes.

Have you ever traveled in ATRs? If its about to be grounded then i would support the decision.
not as if an indian supporting this decision would matter...but still :P

Is it scary than normal planes?:fie:

These are second hand used planes, what did you expect ?

What? These were bought brand new. Please stop spreading misinformation like a typical Pakistani.

The planes are old.

.............no they aren't?

Same here for me most scary part is take off.
Landing is an equally dangerous maneuver.
From what i've gleaned more crashes happen during the landings but if anything was to go wrong during take off then it can be fatal most of the times, this so because the throttle is near maximum and there's no power headroom.
ATR's i heard can glide even after the engines fail. true?

Well they've got propellers so i think maybe they can.

Indeed. But wont the aircraft fall freely if there’s any structural damage as that can hamper the glide and flight's gradual descent?

Pretty much every aircraft can, even helicopters (in a way). But it's limited and not sustained at all, like in an actual glider.

15-25kms in case of an ATR i heard.

I think it will depend on what kind of structural damage there is.

5 out of 10 ATR-72 aircrafts were procured in 2015, and they are latest. 5 ATR-42 are old one and they were procured in 2006 by PIA. They should be inspected thoroughly. Both of the aircraft which got engine problem were ATR-42.

I'm trying to make some sense of it here...
Lets assume an aeroplane caught fire, the pilots,if i'm not wrong dont switch off the engines immediately. They bring the plane down to an altitude where single engine can handle the load. But the aerodynamics is disturbed in cases where engines explode. If that were to happen the flight will have free fall. Gliding isnt a possibility at all.
Terrible thing to experience.
Right @krash ?

Na hukamrano ki factoriyon ko aag lagti hai na in ki gariyan tabah hoti hain nah in kay plane kay engin kabhi band hovay hain. nah yeh arrest ho saktay hain mulk say bahir bhi hon to ameer tareen ho jatay hain...
koon loog hain yeh?
