India was a nation, is a nation and will remain a nation. The political unification would have happened with technology and advent of modern nationalism.

Well, that was in the past. It doesn't take a genius to see how messed up it was. But past is past. And we have learned a lot from them. The thing is we allowed them to take complete control over us, and being so fragmented, it was easy for them.

I mean, look at the Japanese. They were the very first Asian country to ever adopt Western technology and education, but they still maintained their culture and religion. Sure, they were cruel and had their own issues during the Imperial-era, but they managed well after the brutal events of WWII.

And look where they are now. Toyota and Sony are household names. And they have no natural resources other than rice! Perhaps it was sheer luck.

I can frankly say that the Western World is far more tolerant than any other world today. Be it Africa, Middle East, South Asia, South East Asia and East Asia.

We are still living in the British Age, and will remain that way for all eternity perhaps.

The current super power, the USA is like a retarded flea compared to what the British Empire was. You'd have to admit, the Brits were truly genius. And all that coming from some island somewhere in Europe.

Well mate i dont know what they say the reason is for BSF shooting our civilians but here is the true story. Smugglers from both countries cross the border illegally to evade taxes, this is a billion dollar business in the india-bd border. Even the border guards are involved in it, most of the time they shoot when there is some misunderstanding between them. But make no mistake, people from both sides are involved in it, because without the support of both sides, this would not have been possible. Many poor people die because border states tend to be poor and the idea of making a quick buck is very appealing to them, even if it means risking their lives.

100 rite... but there are still some people who crosses the border to get settled down in India... I know few BDeshi here i kolktat runs a tea shop near my offc they have told me how they crossed the border n why.....

Lol... maybe some indians are planning to go to the middle east by walking and crossing borders but here in bangladesh everyone goes there by the aeroplane, if they do not have money the loan some money and then do it. Your logic is Bangladeshis will go to india to be sweepers and beggars, but the problem is that does not make sense as we are already having shortage of labour in some industries. These industries are training uneducated workers for free and then giving them a job + food. Tell me why would any one go to India for begging?

Many inidans are already working in Middle east.....there are many BDeshi in Kolkata they are small scale of work...well u can be ignorant that All BDeshi are happy being in BD but then again why many still getting caught or killed on India BD brder......?

I don't know if you're ignorant or just trying to sound ‘ different’, but Brits were responsible for worst famines in history of sub continent. That racist Churchill was alone responsible for death of million people.

But some indian comments here made me to have a discussion!!

If someone plans to migrate into other countries illegally with the risk of his life, there has to be something very special!! Yes, indian economy is bigger than us, but you have to admit there is not something "special" there that someone will risk his own life!! Someone stated that being pick-pockets, sharp shooters, gangsters, thieves, Dish-washers, sweepers etc. a good living for which they migrate in india, well it seems very insane to me but even if we agree with it for a moment, I don't think one has to migrate to india for this since it can be easily done in any country, you don't need any qualification for that!! Besides, india's poverty rate (37%) is higher than in Bangladesh (27%) (check wikipedia)!!

Many have brought the matter of the prostitution, which according to them, are the result of the Bangladeshi immigrants!! Actually this is the result of child and women trafficking done by the indian smugglers, and you will find them higher in india since delhi and mumbai are the hubs for prostitution in south Asia!! Probably that's why india is the 2nd most affected nation by AIDS, after Africa!!

Yes, there are some incidents of Bangladeshi illegal immigration (most of them are victims of foreign or local false travel agencies), but these are happening especially in middle east, Malaysia and in some cases in Europe, not india!! Ask any Bangladeshi, not a single one will reply in migrating illegally in india!! The killings by BSF are done to the cattle smugglers (where both the parties are involved), not illegal immigrants!! There are many illegal immigrants in Bangladesh and this is a concern for us as well, but we do have proof for it!!
