There is no question of being religious, in a muslim way. Prosylization / political activity etc is allowed in India and happens in every city every week. Doesn't zakir naik hold his jalsas regularly? This is fully allowed and openly practiced in India. Heck one can even run an org with stated objective of making India an Islamic state.

Your question seems to be rooted in your misconceptions about India. And the rather angry response from Indians here is rooted in the belief that our freedom is misused by people who do not belive in that freedom.

Its a tough choice for us, ours is a difficult path, but an overwhelming majority of us believe its the best one.
