IK is a national leader and the treatment he is being met will never be forgotten. People, institutions all - will rue the day they went down this path. Army and its leadership will never be able to rebuild its relationship with Pakistanis if anything happens to IK. The Army in its current form will be considered an oppressor and right or wrong people will associate it with all ills in Pakistan. Given that, any national institution without public support cannot and will not survive in its current form.

Military leadership in Pakistan is clearly willing to destroy their own institution for a few at the top and their parochial interests. What a shame.

It's been done time and time again. The establishment has no built-in mechanism to remove a rogue COAS, because the COAS is the establishment.

Chain of command is preserved at all costs, even if that cost includes losing Pakistan or half of it in 1971. Only time the chain of command goes out the window is when the US demands it, as seen with Zia.

The COAS position must never again wield this much power if Pakistan is to have a future. The US command structure is a great place to look for inspiration. Patriots within the establishment must remove Asim Munir for the sake of national interest and any COAS that threatens the state through his actions.

COAS and military must never again have control over the ISI, which forms the basis of their power to control or remove governments. US, Russia, Israel, India, UK all have separate external intelligence and internal intelligence agencies that are civilian-led and free from military control.
