So what was the mechanism by which Buraq operated? Did it actually exist or not? If it did what scientific proof do you have? If it did not then your holy scripture must be lying to you.
We do not present religious scriptures as proof for the existence of super science, you do. Albeit of the presence of all that mythical super duper science in India, the Afghans and Mughals banged your behind royally and neither your mythology nor your hypothetical super duper weapons could save you from folks riding horses and equipped with conventional weapons of their time. That is the proof that there was no science in India else it could have saved your behind from the Afghan and Mughal invaders.

Ha ha I questioned your superstition and look you got all riled up. There are idiots everywhere, some fools believe that ancient India had nuclear weapons and other fools believe in some mythical half man, half flying horse Buraq. You can't pick and choose as you like. So tell me again Mr. Scientific guy. Do you believe that Buraq existed?

BTW all the Afghan and Mughal banging was on your backside first, before reaching what is present day India.

My superstitions (if there are any) have nothing to do with my science. I do not plan experiments after reading my religious books nor do I blabber about unfortunate medical abnormalities as the proof of the existence of stem cell, regenerative medicine, and plastic surgery in ancient Arabia. This is what you folks do, so onus of proving your beliefs is on you not on me. Don hide behind the religious beliefs of others for they are not presenting those beliefs as proofs, it is you who do that.

I have yet to find a Primer Minister of a country (other than that of shining India) who would publicly and shamelessly try to steal the marvels of today's science by associating them with his ancient mythological stories. Even Greeks or Egyptians did not do it despite of having existing monuments of their greatness.

. .
Indians were flying aeroplanes, carrying out stem cell research and may even have been using cosmic weapons 5,000 years ago, according to the chairman of India's leading historical organisation.

Professor Y Sudershan Rao, the head of the Indian Council of Historical Research, has been criticized by fellow historians for comments that Hindu epics are adequate to understand the ancient world, rather than relying on evidence or research.

The Hindu nationalist government appointed Rao to the prestigious academic post soon after winning the biggest landslide in three decades, fuelling concerns of a push to teach the superiority of Hindu values and mythology at the cost of academic rigour, and cutting against the grain of secularism that runs through multi-faith modern India.

"We have so many proofs that these events happened," Rao, 69, said in an interview, describing events in the Mahabharata and the Ramayana, the ancient Hindu epics about love and war, truth and deceit, that feature characters using inextinguishable fire and weapons with the destructive power of a nuclear arsenal.

Similar views have won support from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and in part reflect a belief that India's history books are beholden to colonial powers, foreign invaders and Marxists.

While there is debate over the exact age of the Hindu epics, historians say they were probably written at least two millennia ago. Rao says this in itself is proof the texts are factual because humans did not develop the art of fiction writing until a few centuries back.

Many academics are horrified by such views, and describe his appointment as a blow for the history organisation set up four decades ago to guide research and hand out grants. They point to signs of a broader plan to bring more Hinduism to the classroom through changes to the curriculum.

Two Indian states run by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party have recruited controversial Hindu nationalist Dinanath Batra to advise on writing textbooks.

In June, thousands of schools in Gujarat were given textbooks by Batra that claimed cars were invented in ancient India and told children to draw an enlarged nation to include countries including Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.

Teachers at Batra's organisation say they want the books to be in every school.

"The lessons from today's history books are that Indians are nothing and good for nothing," said Atul Kothari, secretary of Batra's Shiksha Bachao Andolan Samiti, or Save the Education Movement. "The truth is that historically we have been a far superior race."

Education Minister Smriti Irani, a former soap actress, declined to comment on what revisions will be included in a review of the curriculum planned next year.

The last time the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party was in power a decade ago it began to rewrite school books in line with Hindu-nationalist orthodoxy.

When the rival Congress party came back to power it rewrote the books again. Academics say the loser in all this are confused, and sometimes ill-informed, school children.

Modi is the first prime minister to publicly back the view that holy texts show many discoveries of modern science were made by ancient Indians. He told an audience of doctors last month that the Hindu god Ganesh's head was evidence of ancient plastic surgery. A warrior the Mahabharata describes as born outside his mother's womb was a test-tube baby, Modi said.

"These claims can be interpreted as signs of an inferiority complex," said Romila Thapar, a leading scholar on ancient India. "The most disturbing thing is that many people accept this without questioning it," said Thapar, whose books one BJP leader has said should be burned.

It is not mentioned in the article what the person was smoking before making all these revelations..:p:

I don't think he was smoking anything, he is just high on the hypernationalism weed.

I agree it is a possibility, but the onus is on the individuals making the claim to prove their case.

The Europeans have established that a European (disagreements over which one notwithstanding) landed on the shores of the Americas and X point in history. Now it is time for those who argue that a 'Muslim explorer preceded the Europeans' to substantiate their claims.
True. Let's see what Erdogan or his supporters have in store. :D

u need to go through his blog to truly know how much knowledge he has of ancient India, here he wrote an article in 2007 on misinterpretation of cast system in ancient India Y Sudershan Rao: Indian Caste system
& when confronted with historical facts he has nothing to say & was humiliated buy the host & panelist who are specialist in the field

watch the whole debate

Ok. So he is a 'bad' historian. More a Hindu than a historian (assuming both can't go hand in hand). In that case he should be sacked. Right? How on earth did he get the degree and even the chance to be a professor?

This brings me back to the crux - why did you not listen when I warned clearly the problems of voting for Hindus in an election? There is a reason why the caste system is used to humiliate the Hindus for eternity. Why would someone even have a view that does not resonate with such an established and time tested pattern? In any case the other historian must have refuted him with his opinions, so the world is saved. For now. :D

As for the NDTV function...well, I thought journalism had certain limits of stooping low.

Well long ago India did have the concept of flying vehicles, arrows, missiles, Mirvs etc etc. But those were just concepts, I don't think they actually existed.

.
Even for an Indian, this is outrageous so it's rejected by most Indians.

.
Therebwere no bloody concept and no such weapons. These are myth till today india cant make a good hand gun. Kanpur ka kala ghoda.

this bullshit should embarrass them.

why do they have to act stupid and then advertise for it.

.
This jibberish needs to stop asap.
We were a weak civilization thats why got defeated and captured by others 1000 years back.

As for things of mahabharata and ramayana they are mainly fictional works with some truth in it.The story and characters may be real but they are spiced up many times.

Accept and move on
