Anatomy of an AK-47

The AK-47 is a good rifle however I am not the biggest fan of it though.

Sure it is the rifle of choice for people who are only looking for practicality with the least amount of education and other things that goes into a rifle.

I however prefer the American and the German systems than the Russian systems why?

1- The American system has better range and accuracy than the Russian system it also has less recoil meaning more stable rounds bursts compared to its Russia counterparts, you can see that in the Gas system of the two, the AK gas system goes in the front of the trigger towards the nozzle and then run back through the upper iron to discharge gas and that is one of the biggest reasons for its more powerful recoil and this will in turn cause reduced accuracy in bursts. However the American system Gas system runs through the back to the shoulder stock and then discharges it through the angular pin causing the discharge to move forward instead of backwards reducing recoil. The German HK-416 is considered to be by far according to my own experience even the best rifle when it comes to internal absorption of trigger fire shock and reducing recoil to the Maximum. The German system is following the American idea with perfected approach and outcome.

2- Although the AK-47 is maintenance friendly however it is also prone to jamming (Not as much as American systems and German systems to a lesser extent) However say you came across Jam type 3 (Jamming with two bullets in barrel) In the Russian system this jamming requires on the field stick pin up (Insertion of the rifle's under barrel small iron bar through the nozzle to stick the bullet out, many instance of accidental firing have been reported to happen in this situation also keep that in mind), The American, German systems do not come with an under barrel "Iron stick" because you only need to pull the charging handle and press the bolt catch button and the bullet will flip out. However in all due fairness the Russian system is more resilient to environmental factors than the American, German systems thus more suitable for those who do not give their rifles the care that it will require.

3- The AK-12 appear to have corrected many of the problems that the previous AK variants were facing most notably range unreliability and accuracy on steady burst stream and also recoil blow back. I still did not get my hands on the AK-12 so I can not give a more detailed analysis on it but it does appear to be suffering from the same problems the American, Germans are criticized for since it is apparently borrowing a lot of ideas from western designs, However if the AK-12 prove to be the ultimate balance of both it may over take the HK-416 as the best rifle out there in my opinion.
