I'll take "might" over "hasnt" any day.

I don't really understand the logic behind this. The notion that any sane person wouldn't adapt and mould to the situation at hand seems illogical. Even if Modi was a complete fool who tried to compelty replicate Gujrat's "growth model" across India it's unlikely the very competent technocrats found in India's government would mindlessly follow.


Not to mention the main issue facing the current Indian govt is NOT a flaw in their growth model (if the UPA even has one) but POLICY PARALYSIS. All they need to do in the GoI is to be seen to DO SOMETHING just pass basic legislation and they have only recently awoken from their slumber.


What India needs is a few years with a clear decisive govt in power and I think Modi can deliver on this and as long as be sticks to basic economic principals and listens to his technical advisors then India can cook foreward to good times for sure.



This is just a very weird attack IMHO and even the writers aren't convinced by their own arguments hence the "may".



India's economic fundamentals are strong if really wouldn't take a genius to tap the growth potential India has just the taking of logical decisions.

Even the "model" is flawed with a entitlement based model without enough revenue generation or infrastructure development to complement the model..these entitlement may work in advanced countries like the nordics or even other first world countries which were in the stage india currrently is in, centuries ago..but India needs to go on the hard capitalist path to increase the standards of the people before settling on the welfare state model..
