What's new

An infamous WHO tweet was posted to appease China, report says

. .
.
Check #10 please.
As #2 said, until January 14, the medical experts team for the first time found one new case that had never been to the wet market. Which means till January 14, Chinese government still believed all found cases were infected by animal in the wet market.

Please notice January 14 is early stage of outbreak. 1,There were not many serious cases. 2, Most infected patients wouldn't report to the expert team because they didn't know they got new disease.

Twitter is not a real source of information, Western Media is deliberately misleading the public and nobody read the raw data. The actual report from WHO on Jan 14 says:

As the traveler did not report having visited the market linked to most of the other cases, it is vital that investigations continue to identify the source of infection. To date, China has not reported any cases of infection among healthcare workers or contacts of the cases. Based on the available information there is no clear evidence of human-to-human transmission. No additional cases have been detected since 3 January 2020 in China.

Additional investigation is needed to ascertain the presence of human-to-human transmission, modes of transmission, common source of exposure and the presence of asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic cases that are undetected. It is critical to review all available information to fully understand the potential transmissibility among humans.

The problem with COVIC-19, it's a new virus.

At the time, there's a question...

Whatever the virus was transmitted from animal to human, or human to human?

At the time they were searching for the animal that causing this.

In the end, they never found it out.

tthats probably more likely more than that as a veitnamese member has stated that veitnam already started screening on 7th jan, i vividly remember when WHO first made pandemic announcement, the viewers were grilling WHO for slow response and thiis tweet.

regards
Covid-19 was identify on 7th Jan.
WHO declared Class B notifiable diseases (human to human transmission) 20th Jan.
WHO declare ' public heath emergency of international concern ' or Class A on 30th Jan.
By that time there were about 2 thousand cases in Wuhan.
So at most how many weeks delay can you spin out of this time line ?

There were no way to know if there were cases before 12 January because the virus was not identified yet. There were no test available. The only thing they were looking was pneumonia for suspected cases. You read too much propaganda.

"No additional cases have been detected since 3 January 2020 in China."

He did not say no cases had been identified till 12th. He said no cases has been detected from 3rd January to 14th January. Which means that there were cases detected before 3rd January.

US has withdraw funds from WHO and that left China as its biggest contributor.
Are you saying that China is the biggest contributor of WHO after USA now, or you are hoping it will be?

Obviously there were no cases that fit the criteria for the virus between 3rd and 14th Jan. As only 5% of the patients needs to be hospitalize, with long incubation time and asymptomatic, it is hard for China to identify the virus without widespread PCR testing.

Clearly you know something that the WHO does not.

To be fair if China knew human to human infection was possible and withheld that information or delayed it, then they did a really immoral thing.
This does not mean other countries should just have closed their eyes, countries have spies and reporters from every city, they should have known. They all had ample time to act but with economy the priority of everyone, no one acted. Now they are blaming each other. Instead all should work together. Also WHO really do seems useless.

This is because in the past, critics blame WHO for creating panic for H1N1 that wasn't deadly. This time not only WHO became cautious, most western nation too didn't take seriously.

WHO's technical lead for the response noted in a press briefing there may have been limited human-to-human transmission of the coronavirus (in the 41 confirmed cases), mainly through family members, and that there was a risk of a possible wider outbreak. The lead also said that human-to-human transmission would not be surprising given our experience with SARS, MERS and other respiratory pathogens.

22 January 2020
WHO mission to China issued a statement saying that there was evidence of human-to-human transmission in Wuhan but more investigation was needed to understand the full extent of transmission.
