Amir Khan versus Canelo Alvarez fight

What a knockout that was ...though Amir was dominating the match until that punch.
Boxing is cruel. I mean he was doing great until 6th round then only one pouch and he knocked him out ..I think Mexcian was just looking for this one strong punch

For becoming Mike Tyson you need power, lots of it. Amir has speed but can't take a punch, and he cannot do anything about it, no training can improve that bcz its genetic.
No one can bear Punch if given at right place no matter how powerful

Congrats to Amir Khan for holding the Championship belt for what he achieved was great achivement and made me proud

Win- lose is part of game but he reached the top held the belt and was a great Champion

I am sure he inspired a generation of boxers in Pakistan and UK

Now he is down but he will get up - even if he walks away , he will always be Amir Khan , the fighter boxer

Anytime a lighter division player moves up weight class is risky business but respect for him for aiming higher then his own weight class which he already won before

Was great to see him rise up the ranks from Olympics all the way to professional bouts and hold belts

Was looking the fight on TV as few minutes 2-3 were shown on TV , and the Mexican fighter looked a bit bigger in size (specially upper body/shoulder area) hoping for a 1 off hey maker punch , a tactic which had been used against him in past

however a good fight , win loss is part of sport

You are right but you know what i was taking about. He is more prone to being knocked out than other fighters of his class and that's why every boxer tries to land one big punch on him bcz they know they cant defeat him in pure boxing. Thats a fact which he ignored while accepting this fight. Amir absolutely did have a chance but i knew he wont be so lucky for all 12 rounds. And it only takes one punch to disrupt all his plans, style and consciousness. I am a fan of him since Olympics but this fight was decided as soon as it was announced. Alas if he only had strong chin.

The size/weight difference was quite obvious

Amir - 63 kg
Other guy 75 kg

Very rarely a lighter weight class fighter out classes a heavier fighter (not to mention a title holder) of that weight class

The figters normally loose weight (water weight) close to fights by cardio but their real weight is normally higher then allowed weight

The weight is regained (quickly before the actual fight by drinking water and fluids)

So for lighter weight fighter , you may still be fighting a guy 20 Pounds heavier then you !!!

exactly, everyone who follows boxing knew this was a big mismatch when it was signed, Khan is naturally a 147lb or less fighter, Canelo is hiding behind his made up 155lb weight even though he rehydrates back to his natural 175lb on fight day. They are just trying building up Canelo as the next big Mexican star.

This matchup was a total farce, and I don't feel bad for Khan because he had 12 million reasons to accept the fight.

What happen if strong Canelo receive the same punch at same place from weaker amir Khan? Would he be able to bear it?

Canelo is a bitch who is afraid to fight people of similar size such as GGG.
I watched the match live from start. Amir khan clearly dominated in first four rounds with his speed and faster movements and was leading by score but then he was looking tired in 6 round while mexcian picked the momemtum and got this one moment he was looking for..so i guess its all about stamina and fitness to stay there until 12 round

dont know much about boxing but bbc report yesterday painted him as underdog... so not bad if he lost.
his success made him pakistani overnight, hopefully he will become more british from now on... lol

He went up two weight divisions to fight canelo so yes he was the underdog despite his long career. He was still smaller than his opponent and is slightly shorter as well so the odds were against Khan (punches have less impact and less range) . Personally I think it was a bit stupid of him to go for this fight, but I think the past few defeats made him think he needs to do something extraordinary to go down in the books as a boxing legend. Unfortunately he swallowed more than he could chew.

Canelo is a bitch. He been ducking GGG and now Khan exposed him. Canelo is still gonna be ducking GGG though. Props to Khan for his massive stones and bringing boxing back to how it's supposed to be.

Have to say makes me laugh when people who don't know boxing comment like: 'he played very well'. There is no playing in boxing, it's a brutal game. Khan took a massive gamble against the lineal middleweight champion and one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world. To jump two weight divisions above and fight a pfp superstar like canelo you have to have a perfect gamelan and execute it perfectly. Sadly one mistake and it's good night Vienna.

Badly advised, chasing the dollar and mismatched = getting knocked the f*** out.

Khan needs to retire save himself from further brain damage, sadly isn't good enough for the very top level.

BTW, I see the same happening against Brook
