Indian medias are getting desperate because India is left out on transit agreement between Afghanistan and Pakistan, and Central Asia to the extent. The healthy relationship with Iran despite of some pipelines being suspended temporarily is now being resumed after sanction on Iran is no longer viable. Gawadar Port is likely to put Indian port out of business since with Gawadar Port allows Iran, Turkey and Russia (with the help of China) for trade agreements on ground likely to put Pakistan on the map while leaving India out once again after Pakistan-Afghanistan transit agreement.

So it is expected India will do whatever it takes to damage the potentially economical viably through the funded group as long as its can given they are feeling hurt now.

That Pakistan uses terrorism to destabilize its neighbors and achieve its goals in Kashmir and in Afghanistan. Its as simple as that we Indians dont even want Pakistan Occupied Kashmir back let them keep it nor do we want Aksai Chin. Lets just hold to LOC and LAC as final and finish these border disputes.

That is not the official position of India. The idea perhaps was tossed around as part of Track 2 negotiations, but that time has truly passed after Mumbai 2008 and many more deadly attacks on India by Pakistan-sponsored terrorists.

But India, by not raising her own claim on Pakistan Occupied Kashmir sufficiently, is indirectly giving legitimacy to Pakistan's own claim of Indian side of Kashmir. And every time Pakistan raises Kashmir, India somehow automatically goes into defensive mode. This has not only emboldened the Pakistanis but also portrays them as the aggrieved party among the international community!

I think it is time to change that policy and make a counter-claim on the part that is occupied by Pakistan with equal vigor.

Very poor logic, India didnt had any technology base, but what it was able to do is develop good education system to raise the educational expertise. Before the IT boom came in, Indians where working in global firms generally in Finance and backoffice related departments. With IT into picture a new domain opened up, which didnt required a many sepcialized or complex hardware and it was very less capital intensive industry.

I am sorry, asking a guy to do analysis which makes sense, while he's too busy quoting me India's GDP that didn't exist even 40% of what it is today, is poor logic? Comparisons can only make sense when they are relative. 1.2 billion people have no comparison with 200 million people and 4 times less the size. Its common sense, not even mathematics.

And I am WELL aware of what Mr. Rao and Mr. Singh sold to the world. And you can be rest assured, that was India's entry into the back office market. All due to President Clinton's agreements made with Mr. Singh and Rao. You can quote me history how it deems fit to your needs but I know it first hand.
We continue down this path, I hope you won't tell me about the Vedic times when the US and the French were the back office and India was outsourcing stuff to them due to it being the richest place on the planet. Its all propaganda and perspective from majority of our Indian members, everything somehow flows in together. Which it doesn't.

A little bit of drama from the GOTUS. They always come around and find a way to fund Pakistan. So desi log, please don't get excited. Still good to see them twist **** balls from time to time... **** fauj better heed the warning and stop their shenanigans in Kabul! After all , a rentier state must know its place :-}

Exactly!

Till today, the US continues to spend their entire political capital along with a great economic cost to herself and her allies to get Iran (and North Korea) to give up the Nuclear processing, but don't ever talk about the Nuclear black-marketeers in Pakistan that proliferated the technology in the first place.

The US spent a decade of her time, efforts, hundreds of billions of dollar and the lives of thousands of their own servicemen to hunt down the most wanted man in the world, but when they ultimately did find him in Pakistan, they let Pakistan off with just a rap on the knuckles.

Compared to her past actions, Pakistan indulging in terrorism in Kabul is not at all a big deal. This time too, US will fall in line, in time for the payday (or the 'aid' day, if you will)!

Back to the topic, instead of showing me unimpressive GDP of any state, take a slice of the Indian population and region equal to Pakistan and do an economic growth comparison WITH simulating the SAME amounts of investments that Maharashtra or Bangalore got over the past 20 years and apply equally. So in this model, both Pakistan and India(X) where X represent a region matching the Pakistani sample, will have the same numbers of investment inflows, outsourcing and other foreign deals taking place and same number of H1B visa holders going to the US and other places for high $$$$ work. THEN you can compare.

Statistics analysis and sampling isn't your forte so I'd suggest not looking for a job in that industry. If you take out JUST the US from your economy's equation and go back twenty years ago.....where were all these TATA's, HCS, TCS and all???? They were little local companies compared to where they are today, and the world didn't even know their names!!!!
Thanks to the US (first outsourced billions to India and millions of jobs went to India and to Indians in the US). So where you are at today, its because of someone (THANK YOU Uncle Same). So if the roles were opposites and the US investments went to Pakistan, the roles would be reversed. The main point is, your economy was worth nothing till 95. The US did the magic and you all walk around like proud little supermen. Similarly, with the Chinese, American, Russian and other investments, Pakistan will go upward too. Either do an apple to apple comparison like I explained, of wait for 20 years, let Pakistan take 2 decades (like India at this point) and then take do a real number growth.

Wait a second, are you suggesting that US invested "billions" of dollars into Indian IT Industry out of "good will" for India?

First of all, it was not the US government, but the US Technology companies that invested in India, closely followed by those in EU/Japan. And all the companies that invested in India were driven by their own profits, not out of 'good will' for India.

Of all countries, US couldn't force any of her companies to invest in India if those companies didn't see any profits by doing so! The US Government can at most bar companies from investing in certain countries, NOT force them to invest anywhere! Even when US provides India with H1b VISAS, it is mainly because their companies lobby with their government in support of it, NOT out of good will for India!

Of late, the Chinese companies have invested heavily and some are even going to start manufacturing in India. By the same logic, do you think China is again doing India a favor?

One of China Biggest Firm to make factory in India!
Huawei to set up global R&D centre in India

Do you realize how silly it sounds to hear yourself say that US government invests in Indian industries?

US can't afford loosing dominance over PAK. Whatever US say; just listen; because they know very well, whatever they are saying, are never going to happen

Okay, lets say that we ignore logic, and entertain this claim that the US will declare Pakistan a hostile state, what next? Are the Americans really willing to destroy all relations with Pakistan, considering that they know the severe consequences of this action?

WSJ is being sensationalist. The US needs Pakistan, anyone who tells you otherwise is either an idiot, or a liar.

Those who say that Pakistan can be replaced by India are delusional. India isn't going to tow the US's line, or tolerate its bullying and bribing tactics. Pakistan is the only country in the region willing to fully cooperate with the US, and by pushing Pakistan away, they continue to lose that support.

The point is, this is just a dumb article. More opinion than factual.
Excellent post, wholeheartedly agree, India wants relation on equal footing while Pakistan will be happy to serve for few dollars. US doesn't want a friend it wants a servant whom it can order from 7000 miles away. When funds are not available they can certainly threaten Pakistan to continue doing the job for them. These certainly is not possible with India. Also the geographic location plays a big factor I believe, Pakistan being the gateway of central asia has much much more to offer than India.

So u guys want US to have dominance over Pak? Sovereignty and patriotism has totally different meaning in ur part of the world

Pakistani establishment know that there is no alternative of "Amrikan" hard cash in dollars. Their "Iron firend" does not dole out cash to them as of now. Thats why these jitters over a meager sum of 300 million.

Having said that, US in all probability will release the funds. They are just negotiating for something it seems.

U.S. continue blame game over media, like a cheater child. Pakistan is coalition partner and U.S. support was agreed in a contract, by virtue of which U.S. got to pay for all the services it order Pakistan. Operations inNW were long time U.S. Request now when the area is cleansed of terrorist, U.S. is coming back with logic of good terrorist and bad terrorists.

claim and counter claims have no end buddy. Everyone know that both the sides cant take the other side so no pint arguing or discussing over it. LOC can become the permanent border that's the only solution.

Looks like my post (#11) has been edited. Well, at-least have some decency to let me know that changes are made. Secondly, please put the 'period' after the sentence, for poorly punctuated sentences and paragraphs are always sore to the eyes.

WASHINGTON: Pakistan's bottomfeeding on American aid is about to end unless it terminates its policy of covertly using terrorism to further its frontiers, the Obama administration has conveyed to Islamabad, amid indications that the US is also making Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's proposed visit to Washington conditional to meeting this objective.

A key administration official on Thursday said there has been no announcement about a Sharif visit to Washington in October although the trip had been widely reported in the Pakistani media based on briefings from diplomats in Islamabad. "This is news to me. We have not made any statements about that (Sharif's visit to Washington)," Peter Lavoy, special assistant to the US president and senior director for south asian affairs at the national security council of the White House, told PTI. "If it is pakka (final) you would be the first to hear."

The rethink — or at least holding back the announcement — of the visit comes after the administration conveyed to Islamabad that it will not certify the effectiveness of Pakistan counter terrorism operation to Congress to enable passage of the Coalition Support Fund (CSF), the military reimbursement aid that goes towards keeping Pakistan solvent.

As part of its rentier-state ethos, Pakistan provides logistical support to US and coalition forces in Afghanistan and in turn bills Washington for reimbursement. Pakistan has extracted more than $13 billion from the US since the coalition forces swooped into Afghanistan.

The CSF was scheduled to end following the US drawdown from Afghanistan in December 2014, but the Obama government extended the program for another year through a legislation containing additional conditions, including a requirement for certification by the defence secretary that Pakistani military operations are rolling up terrorist networks, including the Haqqani group in North Waziristan.

But true to form, Pakistan's military-intelligence establishment has again suckered Washington fooling the US by keeping the death from illnesses of Taliban supremo Mullah Omar and Jalalludin Haqqani while trying to manage their succession.

The manipulation, coming after Osama bin Laden being sheltered in Abbottabad, has further eroded trust in a country with a long history of lying and dissembling. Although US policy of forbearance is centered around its fear of Pakistan's collapse, that tolerance is being tested in the face of the Pakistani military-intelligence's serial malfeasance, including its continued patronage of terrorists associated with the 26/11 Mumbai attacks in which six Americans died.

"The US move is politically more damaging for Islamabad than its financial impact, which is significant nevertheless for being an important source for narrowing the current account deficit. More importantly, it coincided with the deterioration in ties with Afghanistan because of Kabul's allegations that Islamabad continued to harbor Taliban bases from where attacks were being launched," Karachi's Dawn newspaper, which first reported the rupture, said on Thursday.

"The US decision is also likely to sour ties in the run-up to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's scheduled visit to White House in October," it added.
