Ambanis give first view inside 'world’s priciest house’ in Mumbai

When was you in Mumbai last time? I have been there too (before 9-11), and was quite disappointed.. after witnessing state of affairs.

Especially the airport... which sucked the most and slums... surroundings airport sucked equally.

12 years is a lot of time for change. Most of the new cities that China has built have come up in the last 10 years. If you had gone there 10 years ago , you would have seen nothing but fields, grass and slums.

If you want an example from India. Take Gurgaon , which 10 years ago was a grassland/wasteland with lawlessness ,slums etc. It was practically uninhabited except for perhaps a few odd villages here and there where you would probably get mugged if you went late at night.
Here is what it is today.

It can compete with some of the best cities in the world. Some things don't change though. Now if you there late at night , you would probably be mugged and then murdered ,or raped , if you are a girl. Money has made people even more greedy.

If a new city can be made in 10 years , then obviously a financial capital like Mumbai can be drastically changed.

.
That is one hell of a contemporary residential building I would say. It scored full marks at as many international forums for personal residential skyscraping.

But, I am highly suspicious of that billion dollar price tag. Even if we take the exchange rates during the construction time of the building, Rupee is hovering at 42-45 a dolalr, which makes it 4200-4500 crore.
For the same price they are building atleast a couple of high rises with 80+ floors..

I would say 2000 crore is the high end estimate with ultra luxurious interiors and amenities.

While in Pakistan every thing changed in opposite direction.

We have lost beautiful Pakistan, in unplanned roads, buildings and housing.

You cannot imagine how beautiful and green, Lahore & Islamabad used to be, only about 20-25 years ago. :hitwall:

sorry for being off topic. couldn't control the comparison..

I flew from Karachi and landed at Mumbay and that time it was quite a shock.

In Mumbai anything which is in South Mumbai is posh except the obvious areas.. Bloody people having even a 100 sq yd land are multimillionaires.. I guess they **** gold too :)

.
He spent a bill... but the house looks like a abomination... he might have a beautiful interior though.

. .
How come it is most expensive?

I have seen (in detail) the design documents of my friend's house who spent $10million about 5 years ago.

Non of those features are either listed or shown other than some elements of sofas and a dancer.

You might have seen the entire house and this is just a glimpse.

no offence sir but this building looks retarded.:agree:
is it india?:what:

I think the reason it looks different from outside is because of 2 reasons.
1) It is a mixture of building and bungalow, if you see carefully. They want to get the feeling of bungalow
2) Utility is more important for them than pleasing some other people.

.
Lets be honest, the Ambani guy trolled Mumbai hard. Seeing it from outside, it sucks. Ruins whatever good skyline Mumbai might have had in the future.

.
I dont like that design it looks odd have seen it a couple of time when passing by its like a dust particle in your eye

.
It looks decent enough at night.

I hate this building and the whole idea of having a fcking 27 floor skyscraper as your home. Its disgraceful, this blatant show of opulence.

.
Well you know what they say- "you can't buy class"!!!

Point about being more of a hotel than a home is pertantent IMHO- doesn't look very homely. Then again i doubt I would complain if Mr Ambani handed me the keys to the place tommorow. But I do feel quite angry at the statement he is making- an entire skyscraper for ONE family??!! Sure enjoy your money but there's no need to be this vulgar or make such a show to those who have next to nothing on earth.

Hopefully Mr Ambani feels he has endulged his selfish and obnoxious side enough now he lives in the "most expensive residence on earth" and does something for those less fortunate in the city/country.

today will get a shock in the opposite direction. while in mumbai u will see around 500 new buiildings uc and 2 metros, mmonorails, expressways and 2 brand new airports being built, slums being broken down for for new cons.

in karachi u see ppl fighting on roads and not a lot of development happening. sorry to say but there is no comparison.

If you look from this angle, it is beautiful. Look at the floor where they only have a temple and a water body. This building is made like open building.

Not so recent.. yet recent visit..
Mumbai ha changed a lot.. and is a wonderful seaside city..
more importantly.. I was surprised by all the "Mumbians" ..generally pleasant and very helpful..even more when I told them I was from Pakistan.. apparently the "gora" is not that welcome in Mumbai as I was..and general disdain towards them was apparent.
and off course.. my kolakpuri bought from there is still in good shape..
Took at smack at a stray dog yesterday with it.. poor pooch had no idea what hit him.
