Amazing footages of the Torkham Skirmish

The most horrible stance and use of (lack) of cover I have ever seen. The guy was also shooting without aiming, What in the world is this mockery? No offence to the Jawans, but they have been set a bad example by the officer there as well, Yeah I understand the afghans are hiding and can't shoot straight, but seriously, did you just throw all the training out of the window?

You don't really get the point of a skirmish.

The objective isn't to kill as many as people as you can; it is to suppress enemy fire. Suppression fire requires no aiming or proper stance; it's basically blindly shooting towards the enemy.

That is how REAL battles are fought; not the ones on Call of Duty or Battlefield.

Most likely the post they were firing at (right across michni post) was already destroyed (as seen on ejaz haider's and wajahat khan's programs on Torkham). Thus the camera footage, relaxed attitude, and the non-discipline knowing they were not going to get hit by anything of consequence.

I don't want to seem like an arm chair general and get in to this pointless discussion, I am only stating what I Saw, a skirmish does not mean you don't try to hurt the enemy, a skirmish is usually designed to test the strengths and weaknesses of the enemy, in terms of their planning, strategic capability and response measures.

I know I am being very harsh on the Jawans here and I have no right to be so, but after seeing how many losses we had in ambushes against terrorists and such, I want to see a little bit more responsibility from the officers. To paraphrase a common saying, it is no use dying for the country, better to make the enemy die for theirs.

And if any Jawan or serving personnel does find my post offensive, I do apologise for this, that is not my intention. I have the highest respect for all the serving and retired personnel of the armed forces. I salute you for defending Pakistan against Northern alliance militias.
