What's new

Am i the only one who never watched a Star Wars ?

.
You definitely are a bigger StarWars nerd than me, however, I bet, you could never be a bigger Trekkie than me! :D

 you always use the same trick to avoid questions. Replying excessively to everything else on that thread but that one thing. See now most other girls would be sad over this, but it just makes me laugh. Find a new one emperor, keep it fresh ;)

Like McDonalds and Coca-Cola, Star Wars is a signature of American cultural imperialism. Maybe not so much now. You will be considered uncool if u don't consume useless colas and burgers, wear jeans and conform to Americana. Until you bow to the inevitable.

Seen them all. Movies, anime series, played the games - from Battlefront to Dark Forces to Kotor I/II to Republic Commando and even the online The Old Republic - but I'm not too interested in the modern happenings of Star Wars.

My interest is in the early history, around the times of Kotor:

And Kotor II

Stuff that happens about 4000 years before the movies - or the Old Republic Era.

But I'm a Star Wars nerd:partay:

Did you check out the new expansion of SWTOR? what a mess.

. . .
The last three Star Wars were cheesy. No plans to watch them.

The last Star wars "the force awakens" according to some sources obliterated the box offices the day of its launch,i see a lot of enthusiastic persons, that could even kill someone just to get a ticket to see it and then i ask myself if i am the only one who never saw one ? :partay:

Why so much enthusiasm for a movie ? :pop:

I have never watched any star wars movie either. I guess they are similar to the Star Trek series that I use to watch, when I was young , on DD (Government TV Channel).

Normally brown folks don't watch or understand star wars as there is not cricket in it

I personally appreciate the movie since I understand the value it brings, I watched the movie late as we did not watched Hollywood movies when I was younger until I reached certain age

A movie called "Space Odyssey" had been released in1968 , won minds of people with idea of space travel , and it went along with the Space travels to moon etc. So people were more open to the concepts of space travel , other words.

The time frame when this movie (Star Wars) came out 70's there was a trend of dramatic drama , or serious movies about real life events. Tempo of the movies of that time was slow there were slow dialogs and discussions. I mean if you watch the movies from that time , there were dark and slow.

Then all of sudden , someone in Hollywood decided to take a risk, It was Director George Lucas , who was convinced in his minds that using "Models" or miniature designs or flying ships and planets he can bring a "feeling" of realism to the space sequences. So he and others worked on creating the Art work and filmed sequences, and used a story type which gradually picked pace, similar to a roller coaster. It starts off slow , and then slowly pace of movie gets faster and faster and by the end , the story telling is moving so fast that you don't want the story to end. Present day Hollywood stories use that formula which became known as "Action" genre which audiences absorbed with each decade the demand for action increased

Second fact about the movie , is that the star player or one of the stars was Harrison Ford, who had a special hair style and if you track that hair style you will notice it was similar to what hair style Amitab Bachan started to copy in late
70's , in fact the India's angry young man is the Harrison Ford character in Indian stories

The impact on Bollywood was the creation of Angry young man , similar to Harrison Ford's Anti Hero smuggler role which the Audience accepted as a Tragic Hero

Back to star wars , obviously the big thing about the movie was the space scenes ,the Alien planet scenes and due to the "great detail" and vision of director , the visual scenes do give a user a feeling that they are on a different galaxy

The movie also , inspired movie producers to invest more money into Sci-fi Genre , as they trusted the movies to make money

A unique feature for the role was they used "costumes" and sets that do not age with time
i.e these costumes are independent of time, movies from that era 1970s if you watch them now you will see

a) Old cars
b) Old phones
c) Old technology (Obsolete)

With Star wars, when you view the movies , you will always find that the technology shown in the movie does not ages, in fact it will always feel like a view from future which is why the movies still apeals to viewers in 2015 as they did in 1970

Other notable , points about film directing is that the cut scenes , when movie changes from 1 sequence to another , the Movie introduced unique format for changing sequence which was new at that time , otherwise the movies used to just change suddenly into new location once a scene was over instead of a smooth transition (Movie makers will know what I am talking about)

Another unique feature about the movie is unlike traditional movies which used to have a big start , and introduction and then story telling started in Star wars, you as a audience are thrown in Middle of Story , so your first quest is to understand what is happening ? and gradually as you follow the development of story you begin to piece together pieces
