If Turkey had been serious with their tank project, Turkey would have gave Germany what the country wanted and imported a powerpack from her.

This is a major blunder by Turkish officials. They had no practical alternative, yet bluffed when Germany refused to sell the powerpack to Turkey. Turkish armchair generals speculated all sort of possibilities based on rumours & leaks teased by their officials when international observers knew that all other available options were either not feasiable (at least for now) or much less reliable than the German powerpack.

This is a regretable, but predictable outcome. Sadly, "I told you so" fits perfectly in this incident.

Let's hope whatever Turkish engineers are working in their lab with whatever country is better than what more experienced countries such as Korea have produed & that they failed to achieve - a light, durable and reliable 1500 hp diesel engine & transmission that satisfy Western military standards.

a) All of the engines were designed and produced without technical assistance from foreign countries.

b) While designing the transmission of the 1000 HP engine (UTKU), technical assistance was received from the British company David Brown Santasalo. Industrial Gear Systems | Gearbox Engineering | Industrial Drives | (dbsantasalo.com)

c) The transmission of the 1500 HP engine (BATU) was designed by BMC Power engineers without any help.

This is the latest situation in Projects of Turkey's Diesel Power Packs. Tests are still ongoing, God willing, we will be successful!

Aselsan's new Fire Control system for M-60TM, Volkan-M. Some parts of the moving target firing tests was shared by SSB chief Demir. It is planned that the qualification will be completed within this year.

AFAIK building engine is not problem.

Main problem is to be cost effectve or demand/supply matter.

BATU engine should be standart engine tanks samll size boats SPHGs ETC.
