Altay & Turkish Main Battle Tank Programs

It is actually expressed plainly why the Altay tank waits for production.

The Story:

''
Neden Bu Kadar Gecikti?
Bu soruyu tasarım mühendisine sorduğumuzda sürecin nasıl işlediği hakkında bize bilgi verdi. Kuvvet’in ne istediğini üreticiye anlatması 1 sene sürüyor.
''

The Reality:

''
Sakarya-Karasu’da büyük bir tesis yapılıyor. Yine 2021, bilemediniz 2022 gibi seri üretime geçilecek.
''

How the TSK runs the process and qualifies it for decades cannot be blamed and humiliated in order to cover their so called ''Muslim Brotherhood'' agenda; also what is planned to be integrated had been known long before the qualification; therefore SSM and Otokar cannot be blamed and humiliated either.

The state, army and the biggest private industry giant do not deserve to be thrown under the bus for the sake of a political party, an ex-mahoist Arab and Arab army.

Ours only foreign alternative for engine mtu . He's best for his class. Our 1500-1600 Hp class engine very Heavy for a tank I heard.

For that reason we need a weight loss and redesign altay. But How ? Of Course Like Armata ;

I always accept Russians Masters of Tank Design. With Armata Russians Again Approved the new era of tanks. So we use the this new era specs to our tanks.

1- We need a Unmanned low armoured but with akkor protected turret with autoloader.
2- And downd the person of tank 4 to 3 .
3- And locate hims front and well amoured only front
4- back side will be low armoured.
5- Make a modular tank and change parts with damaged ones easily.

İf we down the Altay class 65 to 50 we have a good engine options for make local versions and licenced builds ;

+ Fiat MTCA 12V 950 kW (1,270 hp)
+ KMDB 6TD-2 6-cylinder diesel 1,200 hp (890 kW)
+ Rolls-Royce CV12 26 litre diesel 1,200 hp (895 kW)
+ Perkins CV12-6A V12 diesel 26.1 litre
+ And other Russian and Chineese Engines.

We can buy of one of thats licence rights like t-129 and establish the new version on that and the other stages we can localize this engines step by step.

1) 15 ton weight reduction means losing a lot of armor.
2) Changing the design of Altay now would delay it again for many years.
3) Altay T3 is expected with unmanned turret, weight reduction and serious design changes (internal and probably turret).

First build the T1 and than dream about further variants.

FNSS kaplan is a decent option too. Battleproven kaplan will sell in thousands

TSK use kaplan? That medium tank MMWT?
Seriuously actualy that tank designed for suitable in jungle warfare, and swamp etc
TNI AD need tank that lighter than leo2a4, can move towards obstacle suitable for use in Indonesia terrain etc. It has armor stanag 4 for side amd stanag 5 for front.

Kaplan only have 2 prototype as i know, and Indonesia will buy 18-20

(In some source we can make a mbt from kaplan basis dont know this right or not

For Low initial production phase

Not bad idea but it is not operational yet and we have M60t
Nah, you have more mbt than Indonesia.
Likely doctrine of TSK and TNI is diffrent. We empahasize on hit and run tactic so need small tank in enough firepower also in our doctrine, armor corps is deployed alongside infantry for fire support role

Sorry oot

"Hit and run"? You have a population of -270 mio. How does it works at so many people.

Nah, after independen war never we play hit and run tactics even during Konfrontasi against Australia and English forces in Borneo, ABRI or TNI using aggresive posture, during TRIKORA we are readily using conventional armor assault to taking Papua (if not why ABRI prepared more than hundreds BTR 50, AMX 13 and PT 76 at Maluku and Makassar ready to be transported to Papua), or during Seroja operation in Timor, even during Aceh insurgency we put emphasize on Armor to suppress the rebellion directly . The reason TNI/ ABRI prefer light tank is they got small footprint, and much easier logistic problem compared to full fledged MBT as our islands geography not supporting the movements of large scale heavy armor without sufficient logistic units and chain mostly by sea, until very recently we can afford them.

Brother likely we are "kesasar ke semenanjung anatolia" :yahoo:

Yes turkey and Indonesia have different condition and strategy so, likely Kaplan didnt fit for TSK

Hope Altay MBT progress faster and ready to mass produce

it is also depend on asian infrastructure.. seems like your bridges are not designed to handle 60-70 ton tanks.. In NAto countries, all of them built based on that ideology, but not in many other countries, even including Japan. Thats why Japan used a light version too
Also, your roads are not wide enough. you have many people and limited money so you choose the right option..
on the other hand, Turkey has more that 4000 tanks in its inventory, it doesnt really need much Tanks. it just produce and purchase altay to gain the production capabilities and be able to export it..

Who says our Bridge and roads infrastructure cant handle 60 -70 tonnes vehicles? You should know many construction, plantation and mining vehicles can easily pass such weight, Not to mention such measly weight of 60-70 tonnes MBT like Leopard 2 or Abrams. The only reason why islands Nations like Indonesia, Japan and other Not fielding MBT in such large number like Turkey, India or Pakistan is the difficulties to transport them over the seas between Islands WE had. Logistic is the Main issue here considering our geography lay out as Archipelagic country, if we want to procure 2000 MBT we must considering Not only lowbed transporter to move them at one point to other point but also LST and LHD to move them over the seas, if we want to purchase more LST or LHD WE must considering how many warship in class of corvettes or Frigates to escort them, meaning all of seemingly simple purchase would affect the entire Armed forces purchasing strategy or even the lay out of our doctrine. Thats why even Japan, one of the richest country in This world seem very conservative in their heavy armor purchase, Not to mention us.
