VHP joint general secretary Surendra Jain called the 1857 war of independence a communal war fought for religion and said similar wars would be waged if Christians did not stop conversions.
Defending the demolition of a church in Haryana's Hisar, VHP denied its involvement in the incident and asked whether Christians would allow construction of a Hanuman temple in the Vatican City.Christians allow us to make a Hanuman temple in the Vatican? Let them allow that, and we will ask them to choose any place in India for a church. We will fund it," Jain further said.
There are reports of involvement of elements of fringe Hindu groups in attacking Christians community.
"This is a country where the 1857 war was fought for the cause of religion. People will react to aggressive conversion, just as they reacted to the killing of Swami Laxmananda in Odisha in 2008," Jain added.
He also claimed that the allegations of communal overtones in the gang-r@pe of a nun in Nadia in West Bengal were a conspiracy of the church and that sxual exploitation of nuns was a Christian culture, and not of Hindus.
He said the Pope is so worried about r@pe of nuns that he is promoting gay sx to stop it.
Adding fuel to the fire, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday told the State Assembly that the building was reportedly built in an illegal colony and the dispute was the result of an altercation between the priest and those who attacked the place of worship.
No arrests have been made in connection with the vandalisation of an under-construction church in Kaimri village near here as tension prevailed in the area with the villagers demanding that cases be withdrawn against those among the booked with "no hand" in the incident.
Police is trying to resolve the matter between the representatives of Williwarsh church and the villagers as a dispute arose after the under-construction site was vandalised by some miscreants and idol of a Hindu god was placed inside its premises in nearby village Kaimri, Superintendent of Police in-charge Saurabh Singh told mediapersons today.
Singh disclosed that PCR vehicle has been deployed in the village to control the tension which prevails after the
incident.
14 people were booked for rioting, damaging place of worship, theft and promoting enmity following a complaint lodged by the church priest on March 13, but no arrests have been made so far, he said.
The police took away the Hanuman idol and a red-coloured flag which have been kep t at Sadar Police Station at Hisar. Meanwhile, some villagers called on Sub Divisional Magistrate Ashish Bansal here and demanded withdrawal of cases
registered against those "who had no hand in the incident".
They alleged that priest Subhash Chand was trying to construct the church despite the fact that there was no Christian in the village.
The villagers claimed that the priest had bought the plot to build a house but started converting it into a church. The priest claimed that certain activists of Bajrang Dal and others had threatened him earlier.
