If a factor X occurred during event A and did not change for event B then factor X cannot be the root cause of event A. Collective farming was there before the famine, during the famine, and after the famine. Thus it could not have been the root cause of the famine.

Prior to 1959 there were famines every 10-15 years with the presence of the landowning class, proving that their presence was neither sufficient nor necessary to avoid famine.
