What's new

Akinci & Aksungur and Turkish Unmanned Fighter Aircraft Program

100 UAV's in inventory is delightful news. It's no wonder PKK is unable to breath for the past year.
If you really believe that this is the reason why they're less active this year, you're very naive. I assume that some Americans visited the headquarter of PKK. YPG winning in Syria with US assistance, Barzani held his fake referendum in North Iraq and meanwhile PKK stands still in Turkey and PJAK is getting more and more attention (rumours that they're planning a new wave of terror attacks)...of course, it's all just a coincidence - like always.

Bro I don't think you're following the news lately... For a long time now PKK terrorists are dying by the dozens, varying on the week from anywhere between 60 to 100 dead rats, with minimal and no loss by TSK. UAV's have been playing a major part on PKK crackdown. ANKA and Bayraktar have truly become a blessing to TSK.

Listen to Mete Yarar's explanation

Mete Yarar isn't exactly the ember of truth. He says we sent Herons back to Israel and never got them back, that is out right disinformation. I respected this man before he started promoting his book. I still respect the service he gave to our country, but, I will not look for facts from this man - he is a good conjurer of nationalism.

Also 60-100 kills a week from SIHA is well over inflated numbers..

I think a former Special Operations serviceman would know some inside information from the relevant contacts and networks he touches base with regularly. It's no lie about the Herons, they have proven to be full of blunders from the moment they were delivered and most of the time they were out of service. If I am not wrong, we purchased 10 in total and never in its operational life all 10 were in service at any time. Some crashed, some broke down and most lame part is, we could never have our pilots/operators to control them, they had to be Israeli.

I didn't mean all 100 killed terrorists in a week were done by the UAV's, however they have provided much intel and source on the locations of these terrorists. Some are killed by UAV's but most by soldiers on foot.

Let's look what CM said;

- 60-100 kills a week from SIHA is well over inflated numbers.
- He says we sent Herons back to Israel and never got them back, that is out right disinformation.

Both, true.

Infact, what you are saying are true too and not contradicting with what CM had said. So, what is your point ?
Lets not argue about semantics

One have to be very naive to believe that we kill 60-100 terrorists each week. Taking casualty reports by authorities into account I think that pkk leaders are white walkers and militants are wights.

When we start to get 60-100 kills a week for real, PKK threat will be eliminated permanently.

The numbers 60-100 are posted every week here on this forum in PKK thread. Besides, these sources are released to the media by TSK.

Some interesting facts from Suleyman Soylu talking with the media yesterday, touching on UAV and PKK topics.

"Terörle mücadele etkin rol oynayan yerli silahlı ve silahsız İnsansız Hava Araçları (İHA) bugüne kadar 24 bin 500 saatin üzerinde uçuş gerçekleştirirken, 3 bin teröristin doğrudan veya dolayı olarak etkisiz hale getirilmesinde önemli rol oynadığı bildirildi."

State media is usually not trustable on such matters, because their primary goal is not to tell the truth, their goal is to relieve people's hearts.

Pkk packs are divided into very small groups usually compossed of 3-5-7-10 etc. because they are experienced enough to know that

-Larger groups are easier to detect
-Larger groups mean more casualty

They know that they cant go into conventional war mod, they cant pour militants upon us, they would be dead meat. I think total number of terrorists currently wandering on mountains could be less than a thousand, divided into tens of small groups. If we regularly killed 100 every week PKK would be long gone. In order to reach that number you have to completely eliminate tens of groups every week. Surely the ihas made a huge difference but lets not go emotional.

I'm all too aware of the issues Herons had, from 120kg AselFlir, datalink issues and engine performance issues.. But I'm also aware that TAI as the primary contractor is tasked with maintenance of Herons and that not a single one of the Herons were sent back to Israel.
While Herons were being delivered Turkey also leased a few Herons and other UAVs, those were operated by Israeli pilots.
Well if you have 10 Herons, you also would have to have 10 control stations. We did not order sufficient number of control stations to operate 10 simultaneously, nor would you operate 10 simultaneously even if you did have 10 control stations..

I didn't mean all 100 killed terrorists in a week were done by the UAV's, however they have provided much intel and source on the locations of these terrorists. Some are killed by UAV's but most by soldiers on foot.

That makes more sense, but I would say those numbers would require atleast a months worth of hunting not a week.

Even so, single digit neutralisation of PKK via SIHA/UCAV is good news. Looking forward to widening use of UAVs as we operate dozens more - On every neutralisation;

Being a staunch Anti-AKP made you not have any faith in state institutions i take it.. It's making you blind, denying the very thing that's in front of you.

I will not ask you about the level of your iq because some things are obvious.

My comment has nothing to do with AKP. It has nothing to do with any party. Anyone would do the same in any part of the world. Sometimes you have to use white lies to relieve your people's hearts, thats all. Because truth can be harsh or unsatisfying and this is an emotional matter.

Genelkurmay-released death toll statistics are almost always highly accurate. They're verified by imagery data from UAVs, reports from troops on the ground as well as intel from Turkish-controlled assets within the PKK.
